Kageyama's eyes drooped, their usual intensity and scorn lost in the recesses of exhaustion. His shoulders were slumped, hands relaxed in his lap, and his frown lines smoothed over, as if he just couldn't muster up the typical, ferocious attitude he held up. Hinata stared, his amber eyes round and flaring in excitement. He didn't see Kageyama like this at all, not ever. Not even once. Hinata always welcomed sleep with open arms, and it generally came swiftly and easily once he felt comfortable. He woke at dawn, and didn't believe in brakes. He worked until he ran out of gas, in a quite literal sense. Yet, even in sleep he fidgeted rolled about energetically.

That's where his partner, Kageyama, totally differed. He was cold and calculating when it came to conserving and dispersing his energy. In fact, he was a genius, his instincts assisting in the depth of his knowledge of the way his body worked and his game. He didn't always exercise control over his expenditure of energy but he didn't have a lack thereof, so he easily pushed his body past the typical limitations of others. Somehow, though, the roaring flame had been doused to a flicker, and immediate fatigue threatened his consciousness and, apparently, his behavior.

They had trained all day, from the moment Hinata dragged Kageyama from his futon to the moment they finally sat on Kageyama's couch they had been practicing ball handling. Even as they walked, they worked on ball control in order to assist Hinata's passing skills, and allowed Kageyama to think of new ways he could better his already insane techniques.

But now, the television played quietly in the background as they sat in a few moments of silence. Hinata breathed slowly, moved slowly, as if nervous about provoking some sort of resting beast, even if Kageyama was conscious. The voices whispered from the tv, creating a type of static, but didn't register with Hinata at all. He was in a trance, watching Kageyama's fully relaxed expression, and how his cheeks would twitch into a half smile if the television uttered some joke that Hinata was too dense at the moment to catch.

After a few moments of silence, Kageyama smiled warmly and turned to face Hinata. Hinata's heart spluttered, skipping a few beats as his face and neck and even his ears flushed. "Will you hold my hand?" He asked, his smile slipping away as his voice lightened and became pouty. He lifted his hand, palm up and his deep blue eyes gazed into Hinata's, who nearly exploded.

"E- Eh?" Hinata squealed in surprise, sitting up straight, glancing anxiously at the upheld hand. Kageyama waited, blinking slowly reaching a bit closer.

"Pretty please?" Kageyama mumbled, covering his mouth with his over hand he yawned.

"P- Pretty please?" Hinata repeated dumbly. He mentally shook himself before he crept his hand forward. He rested it against Kageyama's warm palm tentatively, his eyes flicking back up for reassurance. His eyes met Kageyama's, whose stormy seas were currently gentle, flat tide pools, and his breath caught in his throat. Kageyama turned their hands, pressing them together, his eyes still captivating Hinata in a tender and affectionate way. His eyes drifted to their fingers, and he tilted his head thoughtfully as he compared their hands.

Kageyama noticed surprisingly smooth Hinata's hands were, without a single callous to be found. He wondered just how much his hands burned when he smacked the ball down. He imagined Hinata leaping up, his eyes determined and his hand drawn back for the attack, and how quickly he swung and the power behind his stroke. He imagined Hinata landing lightly, as if he were some sort of angel, and how he thrusted his palms at the air as he cried out after getting a kill. He thought of his teary eyes, which were most likely just from the air and running so much and not the ball contact. His eyebrows drew together as he stretched his hand out, engulfing Hinata's hands with both of his. He leaned forward, raising Hinata's fingers to his lips, kissing his knuckles gently. Hinata eyes bulged and jaw dropped. He nearly began to hyperventilate, his poor little heart thumped into his rib cage spastically.

"You're so cute, and small..." Kageyama murmured against the back of Hinata's hand, causing goosebumps to skitter up Hinata's arm. "I could just-... Eat. You. Up." He kissed Hinata's face in a new spot with each word, starting at his forehead and landing finally at his thin lips, brushing them together before sitting back. He dragged a near paralyzed little Hinata between his legs, wrapping the around his waist, resting his back against his couch's arm and his chin in the mess of Hinata's orange locks atop his head.

Hinata choked out a small, inaudible noise, flustered and happy and unsure of even what to do. Kageyama hummed softly, a long and content sigh passing his lips and blowing through his hair. "G'night, Sho..." He said, before relaxing completely into sleep.

Hinata didn't dare to move. He couldn't even explain the doting Kageyama he had just dealt with. He tilted his head up, barely able to see the sleeping and grinning face of his love. His agape mouth slowly glued back shut as a broad smile split his face. Maybe he should wear Kageyama out a little more often.
