It was really sad that it was only Tuesday. After I got home, I asked Calum if he would like to go dress shopping with me today. I didn't really want to go with my mum. She could sometimes be over overexcited about things, and luckily, Calum agreed. He was a bit more calm.
ok well i just dropped lukey poo off so be right there paigy
I chuckled, looking at the stupid text, then set my phone on my kitchen counter, letting the plastic case make a hard slapping sound once it hit the white marble. Today, I asked Luke what his band name was and he replied with the craziest thing. 5 Seconds of Summer. He said he was the lead singer and played the electric and acoustic guitar. Cal was the bass player. It was crazy, also, because I didn't know Calum could play guitar let alone bass. I remember Calum saying he sang a little for a band last year, but then he told me it wouldn't work out so he quit. Now I wanted to know what Luke sounded like. He had to be good if he was the lead and he could play guitar at the same time.
I had absolutely no talent.
"You and Calum doing anything today?" My mum asked as she entered the kitchen, startling me.
"Yeah, I asked him to help me shop for a dress."
"Oh, well I hope you two have fun. Do you have money?" When I nodded, she smiled gently then left. I guess she was pretty upset about not being able to do this with me. It was also really no big deal.
About ten minutes later, Calum texted me saying he stopped a minute away from my house to pee at a gas station. Only Cal would do that. By the time he got here, I had to pee.
"I can't believe I'm doing this," he whispered, throwing his head back dramatically onto his seat.
"Oh, Cal, you know this will be the only time," I rolled my eyes and buckled my seatbelt.
"But who knows! Luke could ask you to grad and you guys would be the cutest couple ever."
"Did you forget about the rules to your club?" I scoffed, "and plus, that would never happen. We're only going to the dance because we've both never done this before."
"He's been to dances before?" Calum looked at me weird. "Well, he does think you're pretty."
"Calum!" I shouted, laughing. "Drop it; okay? We're never going to happen."
"I know, I know," smirked Cal. "You two would be cute, though. That's all I'm saying." He threw up his hands in defeat, ending the conversation. I huffed out a soft thank you and began to chip at my ugly pink nail polish. Calum could get really irritating sometimes, especially when it came to him thinking he was some sort of love guru. It was awful, the way his mind thought sometimes. He once tried to get me to be a psychotic murdering clown when he tried to make a horror movie. It didn't work out very well.
We arrived at a small dress shop that my mum used to take me to when I was little. She always told me that one day, she'd be here with me picking out a beautiful white dress for my wedding day. She helped Alice pick a wedding dress, then later I helped mom pick out her plain black funeral dress. I saw the pain in her eyes that day. It wasn't only pain, but sadness, sorrow, and fear. She was sad that she lost the one she truly loved. In sorrow because she missed him. And fearful because she didn't want to fall in love again. Ever since the day my dad passed, my mum had become a wreck. She would never show it, but I would often hear her crying sometimes when I went to bed.
"I'm gonna hate this so much," groaned Calum, unbuckling his seatbelt and turning off the car.
"Oh, shh, Cal," I chuckled, "you should feel special."
