I watch as the crisp frosted leaves crumble beneath my feet. It is a chilly fall day that certainly matches the events of what is to come.
My name is Skyla. I am 17 years of age, and am on my way to a private school. A private school in which you never leave until you graduate and even then you never talk about what goes on in there. My Parents are the owners of the prestigious Wilson Mills, which are all over America and slowly spreading overseas. Needless to say that they are loaded which brings me to why I am walking up to the grey, frosted gates that are towering over me in menace and stealing my last glimpse at the outside world. Growing up with wealthy parents they were always away, and I hated being treated like the rich spoilt kid, so I became involved in the wrong crowds. I thought my parents didn't care about me and maybe they don't, but I knew that the students of the middle class certainly did not care about me. They thought I was so privileged. I was not. I was alone and no one cared except for one person and they are gone. It was my entire fault...
*Flashback to 3 years ago*
"Isla, leave me alone. You don't need to be caught up in this, just go away!" I yelled at her in my panicked state
"But I want to help you!" She yells to be heard over the music in the building.
"I don't want your help! I don't care and neither do you! Just leave me alone! I hate you! I HATE YOU!" I screamed at her through my tears. Izzy ran towards me she is not used to this state. So I did what I do best when people don't listen. I pushed her away and ran. Only I pushed her so hard her head went back and hit the wall, she was dazed for only a moment and she tried to chase after me. I knew it was harsh, but it was for the best. She didn't know and it had to stay that way. What she didn't know could kill her, but what she knew already slowly was. I could not risk getting her in any deeper.
"Skyla he-" I looked back, but it was too late. I saw a flash of red to my left and Isla was no longer running after me. What sent terror through me wasn't the fact she was gone, but the fact is she was not wearing red........
I shake off my feelings of regret, I knew if I wanted to survive I had to lock those feelings up and throw them away, so I put on my bored expression and pushed through the daunting gates. I had to remember, I was doing this for her. I was instantly greeted by a stern looking lady with her hair in a tight bun and a sour expression on her face.
"You're late." She said.
"Nothing I can change." I retort before I can stop myself. I couldn't help it. There was something off about her. I hear her scoff and mumble something about teenagers these days, and she better watch it, the Ingumm already have an interest in her.
"What are the Ingumm?" I ask before I can stop myself.
"No one! Keep your nose on your face and not in other people's business!" She says hurriedly.
'Hmm, I never said they were a person' I thought to myself. Right then we stop at two tall, and I mean tall, oak doors.
"You will find the headmaster inside, and do yourself a favour and don't ask any questions." She warns before walking off.
I knock before hearing a booming voice shout,
"Come in!"
I walk in to see a middle aged sharp featured man with a sharp long nose who is about 6'3. 'Oh no, not intimidating at all.' I thought with a sigh.
"Hello, sir. I am Skyla Wilson I am new here. The lady walked me here."
"Yes, I know. I sent her. Her name is Mrs.Delwinger, and she is to be your escort for the day as you shouldn't be walking these halls alone so....early." He states condescendingly. But I could not help but wonder what he meant when he said I couldn't walk alone so early...
"Here is your class schedule. Try not to talk to anyone unless necessary, and the only time you are allowed to be out of your room is when you are in classes, and from there you go straight to your room, understood?" I nod.
"Very well then. Oh, and one more thing Skyla. Never leave your room past 8:37pm, or you won't like what you find out." He said in a dangerously low tone, but I could not help but feel as if there was an underlying message there. I brush it off for now and go with Mrs. Delwinger to my room. I get to my room to realize I have a roommate. She has hazelnut hair and silver glowing eyes I could never forget.
"Isla?"
