Chapter 6: New Orleans

Alina's pov

We still had 8 hours until the show and I told the guys if they wanted a tour of New Orleans that I could give them one. Henley had been here before so she said no. Merritt and Jack wanted to look around themselves so they declined as well. Daniel said yes just so he could spend time with me. I took him to some of my favorite places. As we walked to the park where I perform Daniel stopped and grabbed my hand. I turned and looked at him. A look of confusion etched on my face. "Is this where you perform?" he asked me as we stood under a giant tree. I looked at him and smiled. "I've been performing here since I was little. Its the only place I will perform. And see that little box over there? I put that there when I was six. People have been coming here and watching me since then and they still come everyday at around 7 o'clock." Daniel looked at me with astonishment. I smiled and looked around the park. All the people here I recognized as people who come to watch me perform daily. I looked at the edge of  the park. "That's where Pilar and I first started performing magic."

Flashback

"Come on Pilar hurry up!" I yelled to her. We were 6 years old and planning on performing in the park near our houses. "I'm coming. I just dropped my cards on the ground and had to pick them up." she told me as we reached our destination. We stood on a  wooden box we had brought with us. " Attention! May we have your attention please?" I shouted. People looked our way and started walking towards us. " Thank you. My name is Alina and this is my best friend Pilar. Today we will be performing magic for you." I told them. They all looked at me with amused looks and smiled. I set down my hat in front of the box then stood up again. For our beginning tricks we only did simple card tricks that people have seen before. Pilar then got a call from her mom saying she had to go home. She told her she would be home in 10 minutes. It was finally time for my big trick. I took out three water bottles and  opened them placing them in front of me afterwards. " Now for my last trick I'm going to make a picture out of water." People started walking away and I knew I had to act fast. I concentrated and the water moved from the  bottles into my hands. I formed a giant bubble. I moved my hands in a flowing motion and the water moved with them. I focused on making a sign that said thank you above my head and the water moved above my head and made the sign. People were amazed and emptying their pockets and putting their money in our hat. " Thank you for watching and come back tomorrow for more magic." I said and grabbed my hat. Pilar and I started walking out of the park and many people were telling us how good we were. 

" Mom! I'm home." I yelled when I got home. I walked in the house and set my bag down on the couch. " I'm in the kitchen honey!" she yelled back. I walked into the kitchen to see my mom cooking our dinner. " Mom. Today Pilar and I performed our magic tricks in the park and look at how much money we made." I said showing her the wad of money in my hand. She turns around to face me and her  eyes went wide. "Alina how much is that?" she asked me. I shrugged. " I'm not sure but I'm guessing around a hundred considering this is only half of it. Pilar has the other half." She stared at me with a look of shock on her face. "I told you that you are special and your gift is amazing. So. When's your next show?" I smiled and hugged her. This was the start of a great career. 

Flashback over

I smiled at the memory. Daniel looked at me with a smile on his face. "This place must hold a lot of history for you. I'm glad you shared it with me." He said taking my hands. I smiled at him. "We made some of the best memories here. This was our safe spot. A place where we could vent, and bring people we care about the most. That's why I brought you here." I told him now looking into his eyes. He leaned down and connected his lips to mine. The kiss was passionate and meaningful. I pulled away and leaned my forehead on his. " I love you Alina." He said as he looked into my eyes. " I love you too." I said and gave him a last peck on the lips. I grabbed his hand and ran off to go back to the hotel. On the way there we stopped by at a couple of my favorite food shops. "So... did you have a good time?" I asked Daniel as we stood outside our hotel.  " Anytime with you is amazing." he replied. I smirked. "Is Mr. Daniel Bad ass Atlas going soft?" I asked in a teasing manner. He scoffed and looked away from me. "No! The bad ass is still here. He is just in hibernation." I laughed and shook my head. 

We made our way up to the hotel room and as we opened the door I saw something I wish I could unsee. Merritt was on top of Henley while Jack was underneath her and she was screaming for him to get off. "What the hell is going on in here?" Merritt turned his attention to the door and jumped off of Henley. She and Jack quickly got up and stood in front of us like children in trouble. " Well you see. Jack had the t.v remote and he wouldn't give it to me so I tackled him trying to get it. Merritt thought we were making a dog pile and got on top of me and wouldn't get off. So yeah," Henley explained to us. I smiled and shook my head. " Well go get yourselves cleaned up we have a show tonight." I said. And with that they all ran to their rooms to get changed. How we work together I don't know. I hope nothing goes wrong tonight.
