He seemed so broken earlier...I don't know if I should ask or not. What if he doesn't want to talk about it?? What if he gets upset or defensive?
Nevermind...I don't care anymore. I just want to make sure he's okay. That's all that matters.
Josh..why does it matter so much? Why are you talking to yourself?
Anyway.
We have gotten out of the bathroom now...sitting at an empty lunch table.
"Are you okay?"
"No."
"Was it your friends?"
"No."
"Girlfriend?"
"....n-no."
What was that? Probably nothing, Josh...move on. He's not like you.
"Family?"A few moments go by and Tyler still hasn't answered my last question. He still hasn't even spoken a WORD after my last question... then he finally spoke.
"Yeah."
"What?"
"You guessed right on the last part.."
"Your family? What happened?"
"Doesn't matter.."
"Tyler.."
"Just...leave it...please. It's okay. Alright??"
"Alright....I know we've just met...but...you can trust me..okay?"
"Okay."·Tyler's POV//home·
I sit on my bed playing uke behind a closed door. My parents have been arguing for a few hours now..yelling back and forth. Dads been drinking again.
I don't want to hear it anymore, so I put my earbuds in and turn the music all the way up.*⚠*
I hear a door slam shut as I take one of my earbuds out. Then stomping shortly following after the slam. It's coming towards my door.I jump up and run to my door, attempting to lock it before he could get here.
I'm too late. He's here.
·Narrator POV·
Tyler is thrown to the floor by the force of the door opening. It's his father.
"And why the HELL are you hiding out in this damn room playing THAT stupid thing???" he shouts, pointing to Tyler's ukulele.
Tyler whimpers as his dad drags him by his hair over to the bed where his ukulele lays."You could have been a better person. But you decided to fail. In LIFE, TYLER. ALL because of this STUPID UKULELE."
His dad violently grabs hold of the neck of the uke holding it up above his shoulder.
"Well maybe this will teach you the reality of following your dreams."
He says with a following swing of the instrument towards Tyler.
Tyler screams "No!!" before he realizes it wasn't meant to hit anything but him.·Tyler's POV·
I see my dad raise my uke and couldn't hear what he said, focusing on the fact that he was about to break the only thing that was holding me together. But then as it came down, the familiar sound of my voice echoed out before hearing the crack of the ukulele snapping.
Then a sharp pain shot through my temple as the room went black.*⚠*
I wake up on my floor next to my broken ukulele. As I sit up, my head throbs.
Right. Dad.
"Nonono!" I crawl over to my uke, dizzy.
I can fix it. Yeah. I'll just....I'll just glue it back together. That's it.
You can't put it back together. It's gone. Just like your sister. And it's all your fault.
"STOP!! GO AWAY. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!"
Why should I? I'm your only friend, remember?
"please..p-please go. PLEASE!"
No.
