Okay first thing's first.
Please please please don't use the wattpad cover creator unless you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO.
Use Canva instead. It's free and even the worst designer can make something good because they already have typography templates. And if you have typography/digital design experience and training (that's decent) then make something yourself.
Aesthetic covers can look good. I myself am a big fan. Just PlEAse make sure that you don't overuse them. Unless you have a theme running on your account or something.
CRACKFICS: Crackfics are a bit different, considering that the whole point of them is to be funny and written horribly. So this would be the right time to pull out that ugly photo of Brendon Urie with a Capri sun and use comic sans or papyrus. Be as cringy as your little bandom hear desires. The sky's the limit.
To make covers easier I made you all a list.
Here are the basic rules for covers:
1.) Make your title easy to read. Be sure to have an easy to read font that's big enough to see and contrasts from the background.
2.) DON'T over edit it. Don't have a crazy collage where the reader has no idea what's going on.
3.) DO connect the photo to the story. Whichever person is in the story, make the cover a photo of them, and even if it's an aesthetic cover you should still connect the content somehow.
4.) Sure you shouldn't over edit it, but also don't oversimplify it. Look at my really frickin good covers list for ideas.
5.) Does it look good and professional? Use it!
Hopefully these tips will make your covers less shitty.
