Chapter 6

Damien POV

"How could I do that to my own neice?" I said quietly to myself. I was sitting in the basement of my farm looking at Crystanya sleeping. The sedative I had Derek give her was pretty strong. With her first shift just earlier today we had no idea how powerful she really was. I had been sitting down here for a few hours waiting for her to wake up so I could try to apologize. She needed to understand why she couldn't be with him, even though he was her mate.

I heard her stirring and sighed again. Seems like I've been doing that a lot today. As her eyes opened I watched her mood shift from confusion to fury as she remembered the previous moments before she passed out. Letting out a soft growl she stood up and connected her eyes with mine. Smiling weakly I picked up a tray of steak and eggs and slid it into the room. Marci knew it was her favorite so she wanted to make it for her, as kind of an apology.

"Why?" She asked me with tears in her eyes.

"I'm going to tell you something no one wants you to know." I told her feeling very upset about what I was going to reveal. "Your father wasn't killed by hunters Crys. He was murdered by his best friend." I gave her a few minutes to allow that to sink in before looking up at her.

"Why should I believe anything you say to me? You just had my own cousin sedate me, and now you want me to believe that my father was murdered by his best friend?"

As much as I wanted her to believe me I knew she was right. How could I ask her to believe me after all I had done to her today? Sighing again I cradled my head in my hands and let a few tears escape. This was never what I wanted to do. I loved Crystanya as a daughter ever since her father died. Now I was the cause of her pain. Looking up at her I mumbled a quick sorry and ran up the stairs.

Kain POV

I wanted to forget the last week. My father hadn't let me out of his sight since the day I met.... No I wouldn't think about it. I tried to just leave and run as far away as I could  from it all but my father caught me and made me stay. I hated everything about my life right now it all sucked.

"Baby, are you even listening?" Jasmines voice brought me out of my thoughts.

"No, what were you talking about?" I asked yawning. Jasmine had come by to try to talk to me but I had completely forgotten she was here.

She pouted at my lack of interest and sat on my lap. "Baby I'm talking about where we are moving to. You should really pay attention."

"Umm, why are we moving?" I asked confused, I didn't remember having a conversation about moving.

"Kain Dallas Draven!!" Jasmine spoke sharply. "Have you not been paying attention at all this last week? We have been discussing trying to start a family and we sure as hell can't do that while living with your father."

"No Jasmine we haven't discussed it." I yelled at her pushing her off of my lap. "I'm not starting a family with you ever! You are not my mate and if I remember correctly I told you to leave me alone. I don't want to be with you anymore Jasmine, go run to Drew like you always do and LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!" By the time I was done yelling at her my wolf felt like he was going to burst out of me. How dare she try to take the place of my mate!! It screamed in my head.

As I began to lose control of my wolf I saw the look of pure terror in Jasmines eyes. I had always been calm and docile around everyone. Maybe my dad was right when he said she was no good for me. Although I didn't think that someone who could bring out the love in my heart could ever be bad for me. With that thought I shifted and bolted in the opposite direction of Jasmine, Crystanya, my dad and all of humanity. I swear I'm never going back, I thought over and over. Crystanyas face filled my memory but I forced myself to shut it out. I didn't need anyone least of all my mate who would do nothing but tie me down. I'm a free agent now and thats how it's going to stay.

Jasmine POV

How dare he yell at me like that, I thought still in shock. I wanted to chase after him and force him to come back but I knew him better than anyone. He hasn't turned in the direction of that whores house so he's probably just going to calm down. Getting up from where he left me on the ground in his front yard I quickly walked into the forest, knowing that Drew could feel my fear and would already be on his way. Shifting quickly I ran full speed to our clearing and almost ran head first into Drew. Sighing I shifted back to my human form and wrapped my arms around him.

"Are you okay?" Drew asked worry lacing his tone. "I felt your fear, what happened?"

"I did what you told me to, I told him that we needed to start a family so he could move on from her. He agreed a couple days ago but now he's gone. He yelled at me that I needed to leave him alone and took off out of our territory." By the time I finished explaining I was in tears. Drew just held me and whispered soothing words in my ear. After I calmed down he kissed me softly and curled me into his arms.

"Which way did he go?" Drew asked softly.

"North." I said and laid my head on his shoulder.

"Perfect." I looked at Drew questioningly but he just shook his head. "I'll fix this." With that we laid down and fell asleep in eachothers arms.

Sorry guys been really busy with christmas two weeks away. I'm going to upload a new chapter right away to make up for it being a couple days late. Normally I try to upload everyday but this weekend was hectic. So ya as always
