Chapter 7

Kain POV

"Hey sugar, what can I get you?"

Looking up I saw a woman with red flaming hair and blue eyes. She had to be about thirty but looked good for her age. Mustering up a brave face I gave her most charming smile and ordered a coffee. Smiling she wrote it down and shot me a wink as she left. I felt guilty for blatently flirting with another woman. How did I get here? I wondered to myself. Your a coward thats how, my wolf whispered to me. I wanted to fight back against its words but I began to wonder if it was right. Was I a coward? I didn't stick up for Her or myself. Isn't that what a coward is?

Too late now I guess. I am miles away from home and quite happy in this small town. Everyone knows I'm gone by now I'm sure, yet no one has come looking for me. Looking around I took stock of my life since I left. I took off because of Jasmine, stopped running when I couldn't breathe and wound up in a small town I couldn't pronounce the name of. I found work quick enough and thank god for hotels or I would've been sleeping in the forest. Not like that was a big deal anyways just thought the rest of the oil riggers would find it a little weird if I came to work smelling like pine trees.

I liked it here, much to my surprise. It was quiet, peaceful, and far away from my father. No matter how my day went I was always able to just go into the forest, shift, and run to my hearts content. Most nights I fell asleep outside anyways but I could and not get in trouble. As the waitress brought me my coffee she placed the bill on the table giving me her most alluring smile. I smiled back and picked up the slip of paper. After laying down some cash I quickly pulled out a pen and jotted down my room number on it and continued on my way out the door. My wolf got pretty mad about it but it was starting to get easier and easier to ignore him.

Seeing as I was going to have company tonight I headed back into the direction of my hotel room to start tidying up. It was going to be a long sleepless night for me, might as well have some entertainment.

Crystanya POV

"You can't ignore me forever Crys." My mother said sighing.

Three months and I haven't said a word to my mother. Rolling my eyes at her I walked out the door towards the forest at the edge of our back yard. I was supposed to meet Drew, my only saving grace since He left. At the thought of him I felt my heart beat speed up and my breathing get short. Tears grew at the corner of my eyes threatening to expose how much it actually hurt me when he left. You love him my wolf stated, just as destroyed as me. Ya love thats what I would call it. I laughed out loud scaring myself. I sounded like some crazy person laughing maniacially. Shifting I ran as fast as I could, which was pretty fast or so everyone tells me.

Soon I arrived at my destination. A very small one bedroom house right in the middle of the woods that belonged to my best friend since grade school. Knocking on the door I heard quiet shuffling on the other side and smiled. Leave it to Drew to sleep almost the whole day away. Chuckling quietly I waited for him to open the door. As I saw his goofy face peek around the door I couldn't help but laugh at him. His blue eyes were checking everything around him, as though he expected someone to jump out of the forest and tackle him.

"Waiting for the CIA to come say 'Hi'?" I asked him through my laughing.

He scowled at me his red lips trying not to pull into a smile. "You never know, I'm a pretty wanted guy." He said a smile breaking his facade. "You going to come in or stand out there all day?"

Laughing even harder I nodded my head and walked through the door. Looking around I saw his living room and sighed. It was covered with pizza boxes, beer bottles, and dirty clothes. Shaking my head I started cleaning up until I felt Drews eyes on my back. Turning to face him I saw a look in his eyes that made the heat start rising into my face.
