Tess was waiting for me outside my locker with a grin on her face “He did it!” she whispered to me, looking around her as she did “He asked me out! After all these months!” She clapped and I grinned

“Aw I’m so happy for you,” I gave her a one armed hug as I pulled out the books I would need for home.

“Yes, but you can’t tell anyone,” she added still glancing around hoping no one had overheard her. Oh here we go.

My smile dropped “Tess, that isn’t a relationship,” I sighed and Tess’ smile fell too

“What do you mean?” her eyes narrowed slightly as she got defensive

“I just mean that I- Well think he’s using you,” I sighed and Tess gave me a surprised look “If he really liked you he’d want the whole world to know,”

Tess frowned “I thought you’d be happy for me,” I was about to say something, anything really to make her see sense before she continued “You’re just jealous cause Jasper won’t even like you in private,”

“What?” I frowned right back

“I mean he doesn’t like you like Jamie likes me and you’re being a bitch to me because you’re jealous,” she summed up like it all made sense

“You are ridiculous,” I shook my head not believing that she was being so mean.

“No you’re ridiculous!” she yelled and people seemed to pause in the corridor looking at us, the duo that never fought having a massive row. “If you weren’t so damn scared you’d actually do something about Jasper and stop hassling me!”

“I don’t like Jasper like that! How many times do I have to tell you?” I yelled completely lying but I couldn’t admit it there in an argument in the middle of school, I turned and walked right into the guy in question, who looked as hurt as I felt. My cheeks burned and I slipped passed him and headed on my way without a seconds thought. I needed time by myself.

I didn’t know how long I had driven around town for but it was getting dark so I decided to go home. I knew he wouldn’t be pleased. I was late and I had slammed the door by accident. I swallowed, hearing deliberately slow footsteps coming closer through the living room. I took a step into the kitchen and held my breath when I saw the knife shining on the counter. Shaking I took it in my hand.
