Strangely in the few weeks I had been tutoring Jasper I hadn’t been in his room; well it wasn’t that weird, until now. It was different than how I imagined it would be, well not imagined since I hadn’t really imagined his room, the walls were navy blue with silver accessories it was sophisticated and incredibly tidy! The bed, a queen size bed, that didn’t even put a dint in the rest of the room it was so big, was made and the wooden desk that had been painted silver was in a neat order with the papers and books stacked neatly either side of the Apple Mac laptop, the family sure did love Apple. “You look surprised,” Jasper laughed as he headed to his walk in wardrobe, which was as neat as everything else, so he could find me something to sleep in.
“Not surprised more...” I thought for a moment “well yeah surprised,” I grinned he threw something at me that I quickly caught before it hit me in the face.
“Get changed, I’m going to pee,” he headed to a joining bathroom and I quickly changed and stood in front of the full length mirror in the oversized t-shirt and grey jogging bottoms. I unwillingly lifted the shirt slightly to see my black and blue chequered stomach and sighed scrunching up my nose at the sight before letting it fall back into place. “What was that?”
I spun to see Jasper emerging from the bathroom; I blinked playing innocent “What was what?”
“You’re stomach, what was on it?”
“Hmm? Nothing,” I smiled softly I was good at doing this now; lying to the people I was closest too.
“Well you weren’t just checking out your stomach for nothing now were you?” I had never seen Jasper look so serious, even when he got into fights he didn’t looks so... grim
“It’s nothing Jasper,” I promised begging him silently not to press the issue. But of course he did, since he wasn’t a mind reader. He strode across the room in almost 3 steps and gently looked into my eyes
“It’s ok,” He assured me “You can trust me,” can I? I didn’t stop his cool hand as he lifted his shirt a little to see the bruises. Anger. Horror. Disgust. Sadness. I watched the emotions pass through his eyes as quickly as the first one had come. He couldn’t speak for a moment, just stood frozen as I pried the shirt from his hand and tucked it down again. I waited for him to say something, looking at my feet in regret, I should have been more careful it was my fault. “Who did this to you?” I couldn’t tell him. But I couldn’t lie and say it was an accident anymore “I can already see you working up a lie, so before you do... just don’t,”
I sighed looking up at him “It’s a long story,” I breathed looking back down not able to stand the look in his eyes, like I had let him down. Always my fault.
“I will personally hunt down whoever did this to you,” he whispered with almost venom in his tone “Annie,” he begged
“Another day?” I wasn’t ready; I couldn’t tell Tess never mind Jasper. “Nobody knows, can know,” I was stuttering, unable to look up to see those disappointing eyes
“Are they still doing this to you?”
“No,” I lied
“That was a lie,” he stated with another sigh
“I know,” I slipped away from him making the decision that we had dropped the subject as I did. “You’re room isn’t very Bad boy,” I put on a smile and my tone followed quickly
“I-um,” Jasper began to stutter and I could feel him watching me “Well it’s not exactly rainbows and love-hearts,” he finally seemed to give in
“Hmm,” I grinned scanning his room again. My eyes fell onto the silver painted cork board that was almost covered in blueprints and drawings, “What are they?”
