I had never seen him so angry. His eyes were dark and his face was set in a snarl only seen on an attacking animal, on a dog that had been taught wrongly or a wolf that was still wild and not caged in a zoo. I saw this from the cold hard floor of the kitchen where he had dropped me crumpled with no breath left to give. He was coming closer and...

“You little cow,” I blinked and I was in the busy corridor with Kelli looking down at me with narrowed eyes and a scowl on her thin face

“You can’t talk to her like that!” Tess quickly protested,

Kelli shot her a glare “Shut it lard arse,”

“And you can’t talk to her like that!” I squared my shoulders looking into her eyes with a fearless look on my face, all I wanted was to leave school and meet Jasper at his car and she was currently standing in my way.

“Well stop bad mouthing me to everyone and maybe I will,”

“You were the one who slept with her Boyfriend,” Tess pointed out scowling at the girl, people began to gather around us, I hated being in the spot light so much, couldn’t the just go home and leave us be?

“Please, Mattie wanted it more than I did,”

“Then you deserve everything you get,” Tess continued “you’re just a slut,”

The crowd ‘Oooed’ and I sighed “Kelli just get lost, I haven’t said a word about you, which is almost saint worthy if I’m honest, cause you are a slag and you need putting in your place,” I shrugged simply. I was tired and my back was aching like made from last night’s run in with him.

“You little!”

“Alright Ladies?” Jasper appeared frowning at whatever Kelli was about to accuse me of being

I sighed with relief, always the hero. Kelli immediately shut up made a ‘Humph’ kind of noise before flouncing away, the crowd quickly dispersed

Tess blew out air from her cheek “Well that was a close one, bloody hell!” and with that she headed off without a goodbye

Jasper shook his head “It seems that you’re getting into more fights than me recently,”

I sighed “I don’t want to, I just want a peaceful life, why is that so hard?”

“Peaceful life is a boring life,” Jasper grinned “come on let’s go get a coffee,” I followed him out of School still sighing as I continued to ache.

The smell of coffee hit me as soon as we entered Costa; the place was bustling with life since it was after school so we headed upstairs once we got our boiling drinks “So how are you doing?” We hadn’t really hung out since Sunday and since it was now Wednesday I was starting to get separation issues.

“I’m ok,” I promised sipping my mocha and wincing at the burn my tongue got

“Are you sure?” He worried, like he always did “You look tired,”

“All this worrying is going to ruin your reputation,” I grinned but he didn’t look convinced

“I don’t care about my reputation if you’re getting hurt Annie,”

I gave him a soft smile “Don’t worry about me,” I continued to drink my mocha for something to do as Jasper continued to sigh to himself “How did that English essay go?” I wondered changing the subject, thankfully Jasper smiled

“Good actually, well saying that she’ll probably tell me it’s all wrong,” he thought “but I tried that’s all I can do right?” as he said this a noisy crowd of boys came upstairs laughing too loudly for the quiet cafe. Jasper turned and a smile lightened his features once more “Danny!” One of the boys looked over and grinned when he saw Jasper sitting in the corner

“Jasper! Mate! How you doing?” he came over and his mob of friends followed looking over the pair as the embraced ‘manly’ and laughed at the coincidence that that were both here, in a coffee shop in the town they both lived in, I didn’t really see the coincidence but gave a soft smile when Jasper introduced me. The lads all looked over me, judging me of course. I continued to drink my Mocha as Jasper and Danny talked and the other lads stood awkwardly behind him. I excused myself to nip to the toilet and messed with my hair in the mirror, looking over my tired features, were they really that noticeable? I hoped not. I headed back upstairs hearing Danny’s booming voice ask “So is that your new girl?” I paused on the stairs, on a low step so no one could see me listening from the level above.

“Who? Annie? No mate, we’re just friends. I can’t really date my tutor, she’s saving my A Levels,” Of course I was. Why did that hurt so much? I knew that’s what we were, just friends and I was just tutoring him. Maybe I thought that’s how we started but we were something else now, weren’t we? Obviously not. I had my phone in my pocket and hadn’t left anything at the table. Could I go back up there and not be obviously upset? I need Tess I decided I headed back downstairs and out of the Coffee shop without another thought texting Jasper on the way ‘Sorry! Tess rang in floods, think her parents have had another row, you have fun with the guys’ it wasn’t that far to the Hotel so I plugged in my earphones and dug my hands into my pockets as I walked not checking my phone when it buzzed in my curled grasp. I took the lift up to the top floor and found a surprised Tess answering the door

“Hey! I thought you were with Jasper all night?” she gave me a worried look

“I thought we could watch movies and stuff? Have a girly night?” Tess smiled and let me in

“So what has Jasper done to piss you off?” she grinned leading me to the lounge

“Nothing,” I promised plonking myself down on the fancy sofa as Tess stuck the TV on.

“Do you like him?” Tess asked coyly

“No, we’re just friends,” I smiled softly, I was a good liar now and Tess swallowed it up nicely. We ended up watching Tess’ favourite film Wild Child; she had a thing for all things Alex Pettyfer, and ate all the ice-cream in her freezer.

“You know it won’t be such a bad idea,” Tess began after we gigged over silly things, random things that anyone else wouldn’t make sense of. “You and Jasper. He makes you more... outgoing,” she grinned “and you make him more tamed,”

I laughed “isn’t the point of liking someone that you like them no matter what they’re like, you don’t go out with someone to change who they are,”

“No you’re not changing him, you’re making him a better version of himself,” I laughed softly

“Jasper is already the best version of himself,” I rolled my eyes, and I genuinely did think so

“That totally means you like him,”

“Balls,” was my answer, I laughed at the shocked look on her face and stole the remotes so I could change then channel.
