Once again the Ryder household was empty when we arrived. Jasper told me to go in ahead since he wanted another cigarette, I was sure he didn’t smoke this much on a normal day. Maybe he really was stressed. I slipped off my shoes and padded to the movie room sighing as I saw my reflection, I wish I hadn’t worn this ridiculous dress that only just swept my mid thigh. Thankfully there were large fluffy red pillows lying on the white sofa so as soon as I sat down I pulled one onto my lap and waited for Jasper to arrive. I softly felt the cushion thinking over the night’s events, how had I trusted him for that long? And now was I doing the same thing again? Should I be really trusting Jasper? I told myself to shut up quickly, you’re hanging out with him after a hard night you’re not marrying him!

“Do you want a drink?” Jasper called through to me, I looked over the back of the sofa seeing him through the door and across the hall into the shinning kitchen.

“Um, please,” as he swaggered through I couldn’t help ask “Why are you being so nice? Especially after I was so awful yesterday,” he plonked himself down handing me a Pepsi as he popped open his can of Fosters.

“You weren’t awful,” he promised “I knew that you were trying to keep Douche Bag happy,” he shrugged

“So why did you get so angry?”

“I was playing that part wasn’t I?” he grinned a cheeky smile “Mattie made you happy so I thought it would be best if he thought that you were just tutoring me,”

I nodded slowly, he was being considerate... “So that’s why you said you wished I hadn’t come earlier?”

“Yeah,” he turned to the TV as he flicked it on “Maybe I thought you’d be happier if you didn’t know,” why did he care if I was happy?

“Knowledge is power,” I contradicted

Jasper raised an eyebrow at this “I bet you know load of little secrets about our Football captain,” he gave me a mischievous grin and I considered it

“Oh no I can’t,” I shook my head biting my lip as I did “I’m just too nice for that,”

“That’s your problem, you’re too nice, and you need to get your own back on him,”

“Just because I’m not some bad ass like you,” I rolled my eyes and Jasper laughed

“There is nothing wrong with conflict,” I worried my lip slightly before shaking my head again and turning to the TV as he put on Ironman. “You’re too nice,”

“Well we all can’t get the Bad Boy Handbook now can we?” I flashed him a grin

“No it’s more like a Bad Boy Checklist,” he corrected me

“Smoke, check,” I ticked off thin air and Jasper laughed “The bad boy look,” I looked him over “Meh it could be better,”

“What? What’s wrong with my look?”

“Where’s the leather jacket?” I shook my head at him with a laugh “and the motorbike, come on your lagging behind here Jasper,”

“You are just mocking my whole culture right now,” he said with a straight face but I could see the laughter in his grey eyes

“You do realise it isn’t actually a culture right?” I laughed and Jasper grinned

“It’s kind of a sub-culture,”

“Of what Goths?” that comment earned a smack in the face by another red fluffy pillow

“Why am I being nice to you again?” he pouted looking sweet as he did

“Damsel in distress?” I questioned

“Please more like nerd in need,” I cracked up laughing at his comment and Jasper grinned.
