An annoying yelling woke me from my sleep that made me ache, I didn’t open my eyes but I felt Jasper’s hands over mine and heard the high pitched yelling of my mum and Tess. Great. Just what I needed when I was back from the brink of death. Was I being dramatic? I felt Jasper tense at my side “Would you two shut up already?” He suddenly barked “You’re in a hospital, have some bloody respect!” they both fell silent and I heard Tess sigh
“You’re right; I’m going to get a coffee do you want anything?”
Mum sighed through her nose “I’ll come with you; Annie isn’t waking up any time soon,” When I heard the door close behind them I gave Jasper’s hand a squeeze
“Thank gosh for that,” I tried to turn onto my side but winced and Jasper made me lay on my back again
“How long have you been awake?” he grinned at my trickery, eyes shining and thankfully less tired
“Not long,” I promised “I just can’t deal with them two, and I’m still angry with Tess,” I pouted and Jasper laughed
“I think there are more important things going on right now then a little tiff with Tess, and anyway that was nearly 3 weeks ago Annie, I think she’s forgotten about the whole thing, especially since Jamie broke up with her the other day when she wanted to come here instead of going out with him.”
“Really? Well now I feel bad,”
“It’s hardly your fault you were in a coma,” Jasper grinned leaning his forehead on our hands again “I’m just so happy you’re awake, I can’t cope without you,”
“Yes, what are you going to do without your tutor,” I remembered his conversation with Danny at the coffee shop
“I don’t care about that,” he sighed kissing my finger tips “I care about you,” he whispered, his eyes twinkling as he did.
I smiled which hurt like hell “I care about you too,” Jasper grinned, he was about to lean in to kiss me softly “This doesn’t get you out of your tutor sessions,” I promised “As soon as I’m out of here it’s all back on and I’m going to be tougher than ever,” I saw Jasper grinning “did I just ruin the moment?”
“Just a bit,” I laughed and he softly kissed me, my heart raced in my chest making everything hurt, but I didn’t care, I could hear the beeping on the machine quicken trying to catch up with my heart, his nose grazed mine again and he whispered “It’s ok the sexy teacher thing is cute,”
I shook my head and it didn’t hurt at much as it did last time, progress. “If I wasn’t in a hospital bed,” Jasper gave me a cheeky wink and I rolled my eyes again, then I thought for a moment grinning slightly “Would you really not be able to cope without me?”
Jasper smiled softly at my silliness “I wouldn’t be me without you,”
“That’s ridiculous, who else would you be?”
“Someone I don’t want to be,” he answered honestly “I changed for you,” he said and I frowned, I didn’t want to change him, “well maybe I changed because of you, you’re such a good person you make me want to be better,” he smiled at my confused expression “back before you started tutoring me I’d see you every day walking into the school smiling at everyone and saying hello to people and I’d think to myself it would be awesome to know her, but I knew it would never happen cause I was just awful,” he frowned to himself “not that I’m not still like that but I’m getting there,” he smiled and I couldn’t help my smile “I guess you’ve been tutoring me in humanity as well English,”
“I don’t do history,” I joked and it took him a moment to get me joke, I giggled to myself and gave him a soft kiss “Maybe you’ve been helping me be a little outgoing too,” I admitted remembering what Tess had said. Jasper smiled foolishly and I had to change the subject before he heard my heart picking up on the machine again “So tell me what has happened, you need to catch me up with everything,” I ordered with a playful smile
“Well I’ve basically been here,” he looked around the four white walls
“What about school?” I frowned he hadn’t missed classes had he?
“Tess filled me in on gossip,” he shrugged “Mattie cheated on Kelli, has been kicked off the football team and is now a loser,” he grinned at the news
“I meant lessons,” I laughed softly coughing slightly as I did
Jasper pouted “I could hardly leave you here alone; I never want to let you be alone again,”
“What if I need to pee?” I quickly joked
Jasper groaned “Annie I’m trying to do feelings and stuff!” I couldn’t help but laugh lightly “you can’t keep taking the mick,”
“I’m sorry,” I grinned “I’ll try and be a good Chick Flick lead and fall into your arms while you say sweet nothings in my ear and we’ll all live happily ever after,”
“Sounds good to me, now where was I?”
“Um never wanting to leave me, can’t cope without me, eternally grateful for my existence,” I listed and Jasper shook his head but he was laughing as he kissed me
“See this is why I’m happy you’re awake,”
“Yeah, I’m pretty happy about that too,”
“Want me to fill you in at what happened?” I gave a nod and gave my hand a kiss and began his story.
