one day during dinner, thomas' grandma noticed something off in his mood."thomas you know you can tell me anything," she began. "is there something wrong?"
"no, i'm alright." thomas sighed. "i think i just miss home a little bit." maybe home could be newt's code name. they hadn't spoken in nearly two weeks.
"oh, honey, it's alright. school starts up again in a month and it'll be here before you know it." his grandma smiled at him.
"thanks, nan." thomas wished her words would ease him.
"so, you and emma's son? you've been spending a lot of time with him." she changed the topic.
"yeah, he's good company, a great friend." it almost hurt him to say it.
"you should invite him over to have dinner sometime." she suggested.
"i don't know if he'd want to. we hang out a lot here, anyway, but i'll ask him sometime." thomas replied.
"i'm glad you made a friend here, tom."
