It was official; I wasn’t going to Los Angeles. When I came back from Callie’s house last night, my parents were having a serious argument on either they should they send me off or not. I still didn’t have the courage to tell Harry the truth but I knew that I should do it sooner or later today. When I woke up this morning, I didn’t even sit down with my family for breakfast, I wasn’t mad I was just really disappointed. This trip meant a well needed getaway from all the drama that has been happening lately but it wasn’t going to happen. I was in front of the cash register, finishing a client transaction when Callie stormed in the clothing store we both were working at. I was a bit surprised to see her here since she wasn’t working today. I raised an eyebrow at her but she ignored me and stood behind me. I gave the receipt to the customer and turned 180 degrees to stare at Callie.
‘’Thanks to me darling, everything is planned for LA. Hot boys, hot weather here we come!’’ She screamed and clapped her hands together.
If I was already extremely disappointed, I was now beyond sad for not being able to come, I was depressed. I loudly sighed before looking at my dirty converse. I put my hands in the pockets of my jeans before raising my head to face Callie who was giving me a ‘’what the hell is wrong with you’’ face.
‘’I’m not coming anymore.’’ It was all I could say for the moment I felt a knot form in my throat which meant I was about to cry.
‘’What do you mean you are not coming? You were practically begging me to go with you and now you can’t go?’’
‘’It was all talk Callie, half the decision is made by my parents. They refused to pay for the flight and I don’t have enough money to pay it myself.’’ I managed to say as I walked away from her trying to arrange some clothes on the racks.
‘’Why don’t you ask British sensation?’’ She asked and I turned around with an irritated expression.
‘’His name is Harry and no, I’m not going to ask him to pay for anything.’’ That was so Callie. I wasn’t going to ask Harry for anything because it would be awkward, like I owed him something.
She turned her heels on me and sat on the chair beside the cash register. I watched her take her phone out of her pocket and pretending that I didn’t exist. I got that she was mad but it truly wasn’t my fault. If I could, trust me I would do whatever I could to go to LA.
The shop was dead today and I was thankful for that. Callie still wasn’t talking to me and it was time to close the store. I counted the cashbox before locking everything up and put on the alarm system. I closed the door, twisted key and started walking away from Callie but she ran after me. I didn’t even look her in the eyes; I just kept walking towards the main street.
‘’I thought you were giving me the silence treatment.’’ I said still not looking her in the eyes.
‘’I was but Benji is throwing a party tonight and I don’t want to go alone.’’ She explained with a small sigh at the end.
I shrugged my shoulder not wanting to go home right now, so I followed Callie until we reached Benji’s house. We could already hear the music banging outside the house. We made our way through the already drunk people and walked to the living room. I spotted Benji from afar with his huge curls bouncing to the sound of the music. I walked to him with Callie and greeted him with an embrace. He told us that there was beer in the kitchen and that we could make ourselves at home because and I quoted: ‘’Mi casa es tu casa.’’ We laughed before making our way to his kitchen. As I walked to the fridge to get some beers for Callie and I, I greeted people that I knew on the way and I couldn’t keep my eyes off of Caleb, because he was sitting on the counter with Carolyn touching his thighs. I opened the fridge and grabbed the beers, and went on my way because it is too weird to be in the same room as him. I still didn’t digest him insulting me last night. As I walked passed them, Carolyn cut me off and blocked the only exit. I looked at her with big eyes not knowing what got into her. I looked over at Caleb who looked at his shoes when our eyes met.
