Katniss

"Where's Raina?" I ask, processing what I've been told.

"She's in medical. Recovering. She should be fine." Says Plutarch.

"We need to get him back." I say, my voice full of venom.

"We will continue our rescue mission for your tribute Miss Everdeen, but for now, we must focus on keeping him alive in the Capitol. If we send troops for him now, they're sure to kill him."

He continues his explanation, and I zone out.
I have to see Raina. I'm then lectured to wait until we're in 13.

I hear the loud landing of our hovercraft as they all leave the room excluding Prim and Peeta. I hold an arm out to each of them and they both go in to hug me, and they smack their heads together.

"Ow!" Mutters Peeta, as they still wrap their arms around me, warming my cold body.

"I'm just glad my two blonde bimbos are safe and with me." I smile.

Prim helps me out of my hospital bed, and Peeta wraps his coat around my gown.

"We will give her the jumpsuit once we reach the district." Prim says, handing me grey boots and socks.

As we approach the exit to the hovercraft, we see countless refugees walking into the district, where it lays underground. The injured are being carried on medical mats.
The district is overwhelming. They've managed to make a living down here. I am introduced to Boggs. He is my commander and escort. I laugh a little. It's like he's taking Effie's job.

He shows Prim, Peeta and I to our quarters, saying my mother's compartment is all the way in the medical wing.

"Why aren't you there, Little Duck?" I nudge her shoulder.

"I'm not ready yet. Still have to be trained. Mom's a registered Doctor, so they took her." she sighs.

The elevator to our compartment is interesting. You see the heart of District 13 as you move up at a moderate speed. How they have a growing population here is beyond me.

"Do you know where Kolton's family's compartment is?" I ask Boggs.

"His family is staying a floor below you, the fourth one." he answers.

I thank him, and the three of us head back to the elevator to drop one floor.

"So we're going to meet Kolton's family?" Prim asks us. I nod.

I knock on the fourth door, and an older man slides it open. He is a splitting image of my young tribute. The only explanation is it must be his father. Before I speak, I peek inside and see five young boys, and a teenaged girl. A Mother controlling them all.

"Katniss Everdeen." The man says, loud enough for the hushed conversations in the room to fall silent.
The teenaged girl stands up, placing the toddler who rests on her lap down to crawl on the bed.

I find myself squeezed into a hug, with muffled crying sounds in my shirt.

"Please save my twin brother. He can't be dead, he can't be!"

I feel a tug of the bottom my grey jumpsuit, and I look down to a chubby cheeked little boy.

"Where's Koltie?"

"Still alive." I inform the family.

Floods of relief flashes their eyes.

"Well, where is he? Still in the games?" Another young boy asks.

"There are no games anymore." My sister answers.

This is war.

I promised the Helia family that I would do everything I can to rescue their son. Suddenly, my mind wanders to Raina's family.

I have no idea whether they're alive or not. I need to see her. Peeta walks with me to the medical wing, and we get lost in the district so our alternative is to ask for directions. With the help of Prim and a bearded man, we find our destination. A doctor in the hall states that she has already been discharged from the hospital unit.

"So where could she be?"

"Katniss?" The broken voice answers my question.

I whip my head around, my body following. Face to face with my brave tribute. She stands about twenty feet away from where Peeta, Prim and I stand. Her legs take off at lightning speed and her eyes become glossy. My hand reaches up to cover my mouth and a small sigh of relief escapes me.

The five foot, three inch girl practically jumps into my arms. This reminds me on my reunion with Haymitch after my games. Well, he did save my life after all. As I have just done with Raina.

"You're okay, sweetheart."

I mock Haymitch's nickname, using it on her.

She doesn't even care of the overused nickname, she hugs me tighter and thanks me over and over.

She finally lets go, embracing Peeta, resting the side of her face into his chest as she smiles at me.

Our touching reunion was just getting started, but the relieved vibe soon vanishes.

"Where's my family?"
