I wake the next morning with the sun shining brightly through the large open windows. I slowly sit up and squint my eyes as I look around the room. Pete stands in front of the windows and gives me a sweet smile.
"Morning Miss." He says. "Breakfast is ready in the kitchen."
"Why Pete?" Colton suddenly groans as he shifts under the covers. "I'm on break, I want to sleep in."
"Sorry sir, but Mrs. Parker insisted on the wakeup call." Colton flips over to his stomach, placing his pillow over his head.
"Of course she did." He says, his voice muffled. "We'll be out in a minute."
Pete nods once in our direction before leaving. I look over at Colton who still lays with the pillow over his head.
"Get up babe." I say, rubbing a soothing circle on his back.
"Just give me five more minutes." He says, returning the pillow to beneath his head.
I decide to get up and get ready for the day while Colton has his few extra minutes of sleep. I take a quick shower and dress in light jeans, a red sweater, and a brown knee high boots. I leave my hair in its natural curls and skip my makeup routine.
When I enter back into the bedroom, Colton still lays asleep in bed. I sigh before walking over and sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Colton, you have to get up." I say, shaking him.
"I'm sleeping in. Tell me mom I don't want to be bothered." I sigh. He's so stubborn sometimes.
With my stomach beginning to growl, I leave Colton in bed and go to the kitchen for breakfast. There I find Mr. and Mrs. Parker standing off to one side as they discuss something that seems important. Valentina and Camden sit at the kitchen counter laughing about something as they eat their breakfast.
"Good morning everyone." I say, mostly speaking to just Camden.
"Morning Victoria." Camden says. "Where's Colton?"
"He wants to sleep in because he's on break." I explain, taking the plate of food one of the cooks hand me.
"Thank you." I say to her. She gives me a small smile before going back to her job.
"Did you sleep well?" Camden says as he graciously gives his seat to me so I can eat.
"Yeah. It was much nicer than sleeping on a small dorm room bed. And Colton and I rarely get to share the same bed. It was nice having him close and waking up with him beside me."
"Ugh, I'll be in my room." Valentina says, hopping off her barstool and leaving the room.
"She really doesn't like me." I sigh.
"She'll come around eventually. You just have to be patient and give her time."
"Camden." Mrs. Parker says, coming up behind Camden. "Didn't you say you had to go in to work today?"
"Shit!" Camden exclaims. "I completely forgot. My boss is going to kill me. I'll see you later Vic." Camden leaves and I'm left alone with Mrs. Parker.
"Where's Colton?" she asks me.
"He decided to sleep in."
"He's not normally this tired. What were the two of you doing last night?" She stares at me expectantly. What does she think we did? Does she think we had sex? Even if we did, it's none of her business. Does she honestly think she can just ask questions like this?
