-Rainbowtail's POV-
Katie went home really fast, and apparently the moonpool worked. She went back to tell Ryan about everything. So, once again, I'm stuck with boys. But that was yesterday. We've been looking for longer than I thought, and we still haven't found the clan. "We can't go back without Stonestripe and Eclipsepaw." Curlypelt always said when me or Cheetahpaw wanted to give up in frustration. (rage quit)
"Do you know how long we have been out here?" Cheetahpaw meowed. "A day and a half, not that long." I said. "We still have plenty of time to find Thunderclan before the time limit." I added, just in case the first wasn't enough.
"What if Novafur was leading them? I bet he was." Curlypelt said. "He probably was. But we have to make sure that they are not here before we head back." I meowed firmly. "But we have looked everywhere!" Cheetahpaw whined. Then I had an idea. "Not everywhere." I whispered, thinking. Then I turned my head towards the tall peaking mountain behind Windclan territory. "What?! Are you out of your mind Rainbowtail?" Cheetahpaw yowls.
A hard breeze came from the direction of the mountain. It was mingled with a lot of scents, but I scented the tiniest, faintest one. Mingled with the hard scents of Windclan, I smelled it. Thunderclan. "We have to go there!" I exclaimed, pelting towards it, but skirting Windclan territory. Of course, they ran after me. "I'm just doing this to make sure you don't get in trouble." Curlypelt breathed in between each of his pants as he sprinted beside me.
Finally, we reached a few broken trees to symbolize the end of Windclan territory. A hard wind came past and ruffled my fur. I slowly began to pad foreword, with Cheetahpaw and Curlypelt behind me. We had to walk across a large field dotted with trees here and there. And occasionally there would be a haystack or two. The small journey was quiet, and as they say, you can hear a pin drop.
Once we reached the end of the field, it was already sunhigh. We still had a long way to go. Walking towards the mountain, the breezes turned into winds, winds turning into gusts. Fighting against the wind, with my head to the side, I looked foreword. "I can see the waterfall from here!" I yowled against the wind as it started to snow. "And why do we need a waterfall?" I could barely hear Curlypelt's voice. "It might be sheltering the Tribe of Rushing Water's camp!" I yowled back.
They now know not to question me about all this cat stuff, so he didn't ask. Trudging through the snow as it started to grow higher, I looked for something that we could possibly hunt. Unfortunately, there wasn't anything I could see, hear or scent, especially because the snow blocked my vision, clouded my hearing, and made the air share the same dull smell. As a human, I would love snow, I would bury myself in it and call myself a snow mermaid. But now, all I could think about snow is that it would be the worst enemy for the rest of my life.
Finally, we reached some tree cover. Turns out, the waterfall was farther away than it seemed. We still had a long way to go. "Maybe we could hunt here, there is cover, I don't see why there wouldn't be a little prey." I said reasonably. "Yeah, and maybe we could get lucky and find something great for us to eat!" Curlypelt meowed before eagerly walking off. My stomach growled. "You go with Curlypelt, and I'll go this way." I said to Cheetahpaw, flicking my tail to my left before racing off that way.
Scenting as I ran, I slowed down a few paces every so often to take in everything. Keeping a steady trot, I heard the bushes crackle to my right ahead of me. I came foreword, turning my head to look at the bush. Still walking foreword, I bumped into somebody and fell over. "Hey! Watch where you're going, mouse brain!" I spat at the cat, frustrated and grumpy from lack of food. The cat stood up, and it was obviously a tom. Then a whole group of cats slid out of the bushes behind him, one of them holding a.. Hawk.
"I think you should watch where you put your paws, you're trespassing." He said in a low growl. "Trespassing?! I don't think any territory would be here in all this snow!" I shot back. "The tribe of rushing water does not need any of this. Get off of our territory before I-" he growled before he was interrupted by a she cat in the group. "Wait! She has that smell!" The tom in the front cocked his head and looked at her questioningly. "Don't act as if you don't know, it's one of those cats from the forest!" She said to him. Another she cat came foreword, a pretty grey she cat.
"I think you may have heard of me, my name is Feather of Flying Bird." She said. "Feather... Feather... Feathertail..." I mumbled. "Are you related to a cat named Stonefur?" I blurted at her. "My great grandfather?" She meowed, though it came as more of a question. "How did you know of him?" She asked, sounding very formal. "Lots and lots of stories." I said, and it was indeed true. Stories in books, and stacks of books upon stacks of books. I've read all the mangas, super editions, regular series, anything about warriors! Though I haven't read Tallstar's Revenge yet, I'm sure I will. "Well, I haven't really known him, but he has had a lot of stories told about him, and Feathertail too." She went on.
"We must get back to the cave." The tom blurted, causing me to frown. "Wait! I need to get my friends, if we can come." I said, which was an obvious way to ask anyone for permission to anything. "Fine." He growled. I ran back and saw Curlypelt with Cheetahpaw there. They saw my exited face, and without sparing any breath I meowed quickly, "Come on!" then turned around and left. Of course they followed me, and took their skinny prey with them. I leaped back to the place where I was recently. I found two of the group lying around the hawk, keeping it warm and delicious.
The moment they saw us they jumped up, immediately grabbing the hawk and walking away, and we followed as they swished their tails in signal for us to join. They made a circle around us, as if we were prisoners, but that didn't bother me. I was just happy to go and see the clan. And we would finally get to know what happened. After about fifteen minutes or so, we reached the waterfall. They led us along a ledge, and leaped behind it. I followed, eager as heck to see my beloved clanmates.
After my eyes adjusted, exited as ever, I turned to the large group of my clan only to see a horror I would never forget.
