Chapter 9: Fate Conspires with Death and Light
The three hooded Norn Goddesses floated and sent a barrage of crystal balls flying at Hel and Alex’s direction.
Hel melted to a shadow that crept over the well of Urd.
The crystal balls bounced harmlessly off Alex’s body.
“Sturdy…”
“Find…”
“Mistletoe…”
“Oh no! Not the mistletoe!” Hel materialized in front of the Norns and delivered a solid shadow kick over at Urd’s abdomen.
“Hel, watch out!” Alex said.
Hel ducked and elbowed the attacker’s abdomen.
“Whew, do you like hitting abdomens?” Alex said but a skull came running to his head. “Ouch!”
“The power of the future dwells in my hands,” Verdandi said, and a laser device materialized in front of her. “Dance!”
Alex ran for cover, but the laser device bounced off him like a mirror.
“The power of the past, with my arrows, you be damned!” Skuld said and mistletoe arrows appeared and rained on Alex.
Hel raised her hands and the shadows formed a shield on top of Alex. Hel rode the shadows straight to Urd.
“The power of the present, kill her!” Urd said and she raised her hands to see an icy portal straight to Niffleheim. She got thrown to the portal and it closed.
“Baldr, how dare you ally yourself to the Trickster God’s children!”
“I am not Baldr!” Alex protested, but roots extended from the Well of Urd and gripped him.
“Could have fooled me, Baldr.” Skuld grinned.
“Let me go!” Alex said.
“The roots of Urd will not kill you, because I am pretty sure, Frigg would want you back alive.”
“No question to that.”
“We are the Goddesses who govern fate. We control the monsters, show them their future of demise from the hands of Hel and Jormungand.”
“So…that’s…”
“We are also capable of controlling the age of a person. Skuld!” Urd said.
Skuld removed her hood, and revealed an adult woman with busty figure, and tied up black hair. She put her hand over to Alex’s head and he shrank, and shrank until he was a 7 year old kid.
“What did you do to me!?” Alex shook his arms as Skuld removed him from the roots and carried him like a child. Urd removed her hood and revealed a teenage girl with blond hair styled modern style. Followed Verdandi, who looked like a 10 year old kid.
“Bring Hel back!” Alex pulled Skuld’s hair.
Suddenly time stopped.
“Did you do anything, Urd?” Verdandi said.
“Yes, someone is forcing to come out…”
A rip in space happened, tearing the fabric of reality. Out came, a black hand, then Hel’s monstrous form. Following her is a giant gray dog.
“Garm~! Hel!” Alex cheered like a child, but tripped because of his big clothes.
“YOU ARE PATHETIC, ALEXANDER!” Hel shouted the enormous form towering over the well.
“Sorry…” Alex began to cry.
“Aw, Baldr is at his cutest when he is a kid~!!” Skuld swooned.
“We have more things to worry about, Skuld… but he is indeed cute.”
Hel’s eyeballs looked at the crying Alexander. She picked him up and threw him at Garm’s location.
“BAD!!!” Chibi Alex sailed overhead.
“CARE TO SPARE ME THE FAVOR?” Hel’s voice said and the Norn’s trembled.
“You may control fate, but I control death.”
Verdandi raised her hand and Hel shrank back to her beautiful teenage form.
“W-What happened!?”
“Advanced you several minutes to the future.”
“E-Eh! Y-You!” Hel said.
“Give us Baldr.” Urd said. “I will let you and Jormungand roam freely.”
Hel appeared at Urd’s front and punched her which sent her flying towards the well.
“Time!” Urd shouted and Hel froze. Skuld and Verdandi pushed Hel down to the building.
Garm howled.
The three norns turned their back.
“Hey…” Alex said. The norns ignored him.
“HEY!” Alex shouted.
“What do you…” Verdandi was astounded to see a white fist slam her face. The ten year old girl plummeted to the tree.
“Fate consipires…Will death and light prevail? Or will it fall to the hands of time?” The culprit said from afar, watching the entire scene.
