Chapter 4

  Darlene

"We should have reached home by now, your parents must be worried." I hear Nathan mumble over the loud water dripping sound. I look up from the wall I've been staring at aimlessly for hours. Nathan sat in the cell across from mine looking towards me.

"You shouldn't have made them lock you down here with me." I state.

He offers me a weak smile. "I can't let them lock you down here all alone."

"Thank you." I give him a small smile which he returns, as the heavy door to the dungeon opens and two men walk inside. I recognize one of them as the same guy who did all the talking before bringing us here. The beta of the silver moon pack.

"The alpha is ready to see you." He announce and unlocks both our cells.

Nathan and I are both escorted to change our clothes and a quick shower before meeting the alpha in his office. The alpha sat on the other side of his huge wooden table. We learn his name is Lucas. He looks in early 20s of his age, but at the same time he seems serious and firm.

He nods towards us when we enter his office. Alpha Lucas' office looked similar to alpha Adam's office in so many ways, like the huge shelves of books, papers stacked everywhere. The alpha nods his head towards Nathan in acknowledgement before facing me.

"Nathan Lambert from Wood Edge pack I believe." The alpha started in a firm tone.

"Yes Alpha." Nathan bows his head slightly in respect.

"I had a long talk with my father before this meeting, and he assured me that he personally knows you through visitations in the past." The alpha continues. "He mentioned that you moved to live in the human territory a few years back."

"That's true Alpha." Nathan assures. "I live in the human territory and work as a doctor, and I have visited your pack a few years back when your father was the alpha."

Alpha Lucas nods, "Since you have been a huge help to our pack in the past, I have decide to overlook this situation and forgive about the trespassing, but rogues are a sensitive case, I can't allow her to leave without a proper explanation."

"Alpha please allow me to explain. This is Darlene, I met her a few years back at the human territory. She does not belong to a pack. She was taken in by a human family as a baby, they don't know about her being a werewolf. I brought her along with me to the pack ceremony." He explains.

"My beta Ethan told me you mentioned mate rejection as the reason to cross our border uninvited."

"Yes Alpha. She found her mate at wood edge yesterday and was rejected. She was trying to leave and ended up crossing the borders. She doesn't know most of the werewolf rules because she never had any experience with them before."

The alpha seemed to be in deep thoughts as he looked between Nathan and me. I could tell he was having a conversation with someone through his mind link. "Fine then, I've decided to spare her. You both can leave." He said after what seemed like hours but were no more then mere minutes. "You both can leave and go back to where you came from."

"Thank you alpha." Nathan shows his gratitude by slightly bowing his head again.

"Alpha..." I start but my voice betrays me by breaking. I gulp before continuing again. "Can I stay?"
