Chapter 7
Talon
She stood right there in front of me. Looking completely different than the girl I saw four years ago. I don't think I would have been able to recognize her if I haven't seen Nathan first. She bows slightly to me as in showing respect to me. Speechless I don't know how
long I stand there ogling her before Jacob mind links me to say something already.
"E..." I clear my throat. "Edge Wood welcomes you all, we can continue at my office." I announce my gaze fixed on her.
The alpha and his pack members follow me to my office where instead of sitting behind my desk I sit down on the sofa along with the rest. Darlene takes her place with the alpha on her right and Nathan on her left. Ryan sits down on the love seat alone, while the three wolves who follow the alpha every where stand behind the alpha Lucas.
"Darlene and I discussed the training hours." Alpha Lucas starts saying. "And we want to start is as soon as possible, so she suggested we start it from tomorrow."
"Very well then, I'll make sure everything is ready by then." I reply.
The door to the office opens and Kendra walks in with a tray in her hand. The tray contained a jug with some cloudy liquid and a few empty glass. She refuses to meet my gaze because if she did meet my gaze she'd see nothing but fury, because she knows she is not allowed in my office when I'm working or having an important meeting.
"I thought you'd be thirsty after the long drive here, so I decided to bring some drink if that's okay." She asks to no one in general as she pours it out in the glasses one by one. Ryan mumbles and thanks as he takes a glass and gulps it down along with the others. Darlene just sit there taking small sips.
"It's really exciting to see a female third in command." Kendra starts a small talk with the alpha. The only thing I didn't want her to do. "We rarely see a female beta or gamma." She says with a smile towards Darlene which Darlene returns with a nod. "Is she your mate alpha?"
Yes. I want to say but the question is not to me, but to the other alpha in the room. I watch Lucas give her a small smile. "No, she is not my mate. My mate is back at the pack house." Lucas replies. "Is she your?" Lucas asks me out of the blues. For a second I'm fazed into my spot wondering who is he asking about. Darlene? But when I see him nod a little towards Kendra, it clicks that he is asking about her. Asking if Kendra was my mate.
"Oh no we are not." Kendra answers his question with a nervous laugh instead.
"I see." Lucas smiles slightly towards her and then me. His question seemed suspicious. Does he know that Darlene is my mate? Damn it of course he does.

After a few more minutes of discussing the training session with alpha Talon, we are escorted to where our rooms were suppose to be.
Lucas stayed back in the office with Talon saying he has a few more things to discuss with him, while me, Ryan and Nathan followed the beta and Kendra to show us where we will be staying. I remember her from that night. She is the same girl who was holding Talon's hand possessively. Se didn't change at all but some way got even hotter. Her long black hair were now shorter than I remember and her skin tanner.
Kendra is a chatter box, talking to Ryan and Nathan non stop as we walk down the corridors and up the stairs. Both Nathan and Ryan gave me side way glances while talking to her. I know exactly why they were doing so. Kendra reeked of Talon. Anyone can smell Talon on her from a mile away. My wolf howls in jealousy, but I make sure to remind her how harshly he had rejected us, so he has the right to choose another mate or girlfriend or a night stand. It doesn't concern us anymore.
We turn a corner entering a new hallway on the fourth floor and came to a stop in a long corridor with doors lining both sides. I remember this corridor perfectly. After all this is the place where I got rejected four years ago. It's funny how four year ago this place was off limits for a rogue like me, and today I'm being invited to stay here. The place where only high rank members stay.
Beta Jacob unlocks three doors before leaving us with a 'if you need anything don't hesitate to let us know'. I choose the room in the middle while Ryan choose the room on my left leaving Nathan with the one on my right.
The room was quiet big. Bigger than my room at Silver moon, with a queen size bed against the wall, a dresser, wardrobe a couch and a floor to ceiling window with the magnificent view of the forest. A door led to the co-joined bathroom with a modern style tub.
I change into my more comfortable pants and shirt after hanging my clothes neatly in the wardrobe and setting my things out of the bags. I leave my room to join Nathan next door. When I walk in I'm surprised to see Ryan and Lucas already sitting on the couch discussing something.
Lucas shots me his apologetic smile as I walk in and sit down on the bed beside Nathan. When I look around I see all three of them giving me the same look.
"What?" I ask dumbfounded.
"You know exactly 'what'." Ryan rolls his eyes.
Okay maybe I knew. "So what if I know he is sleeping with her, I mean I'm not surprised." I shrug "It's not like we are together, we are already over this. He didn't want me now he is with someone he wants. I don't see why I deserve this look you are all giving me." And then I add. "Plus they were together even before I showed up here back then." I tell them remembering that day four years ago. Kendra was with Talon. She was holding his hand. They have been together since then. They must be really close.
"But it still must hurt watching it." Ryan asked me. "That doesn't change the fact that you are still his mate."
"It doesn't. I'm fine okay." I shrug a little while my wolf objects saying that it does hurt her and she is not okay. I ignore her and add."I'm here on a job and I'll be be back in no time. I can't hide for ever. After this is over I'll be free of the mental prison I built around myself four years ago."
"I'm glad to hear that Darlene." Lucas replies. "You know in case you change your mind, let me know. We will cancel this training session." I nod at Lucas with a smile. "I discussed the training schedule with Talon, he said you have the freedom of doing what ever you want as long as you make his wolves strong."
"Oh I've planned a lot of torture for them." I reply with a wink towards Ryan to which me winks back with a chuckle.
"I know you have planned something between the lines of bad and painful for them since the moment I saw you head locked and discussing something with Ethan and Ryan last night." Lucas laughs when he sees me and Ryan both grinning towards him. "Just be easy on the poor wolves."
Lucas gets up from the couch "Well then I gotta head back now. I don't know what Ethan would be doing with the pack now that he is alone and in control." He chuckles at his words and shakes his head on the dumbness of his beta and his best friend. "Oh and Darlene, I made sure Talon won't bother you while you stay in Edge wood." With that last sentence Lucas walks out the room.
