I turn towards Nathan and Ryan and exchange a look with them, who stare back at me with a puzzled expression confirming that they too noticed the weird thing that just took place.
"What exactly just happened?" Nathan asks glancing at me and than at Ryan. Ryan just return our confused expressions without any reply.
"Who was that?" I ask hoping one of them would know.
"Oh that's Alpha Mason from the Blood moon Black wood pack." Ryan replies. "He visited Silver moon once long time ago, I remember him."
"Blood moon what?" I ask. "What's with the long name?"
"Blood moon-Black woods pack." Nathan repeats. "I heard about them. It's two packs merged into one." Ryan nods his head conforming what Nathan is saying is right.
"Merged?" I ask curiously, I've never heard of two packs being merged before. There are packs who take over the other packs by killing their alpha. But this way the pack who is being taken over never gets to keep their name.
"Yes merged. Under the alliance of marriage." Nathan replies my unspoken question. "Alpha Mason's parents were both Alpha of their respected packs. His Father alpha Drake, was alpha of Blood Moon pack, and his mother Jade, being the only child of the previous alpha of Black wood inherited her fathers pack and became the alpha. She was the first female alpha of the pack's history. I heard she was just as strong and wise as any male alpha. Alpha Drake and her were mates. So when they got married they merged their packs as one."
"Wow." Is all I could say. I've never heard of this sorry before. It's like a werewolf fairy tale that a mother would tell her daughter as a bed time story. "They must be so happy." I add after a while.
Nathan gives me a sad smile. "They were, until Luna Jade was killed in a rogue attack several years back. The rogue killed many of the pack members and burned the pack down. Less than half of the pack was able to survive the horrible attack." He adds.
This additional information saddens me. Nathan continues instead of waiting for me to comment. "The ones who survived were all in a bad shape, burns and scars, and every pack member had lost a person from their family. They had to leave their territory and move to a new smaller territory. I heard alpha Mason was only 4 when all this happened. His father alpha Drake tried hard to rebuild the pack, it was hard to start everything from point one. Eventually he passed away just after a couple of years. And then Alpha Mason became the alpha at the age of 9."
My throat closes at hearing the tragedy this pack had gone through. I imagine a little boy at only the age of 4 seeing his mother and his pack members dying. I imagine this innocent boy leaving home and moving away to a foreign land and try to start over. Then I imagine this boy loosing his father as well at a very young age, and this boy loosing his childhood and innocence to take over a pack and huge responsibility.
"How is the pack doing now?" I ask after a long moment of silence.
"They are doing very well. It is a very strong pack even though it's not big in number." Ryan replies to my question. "Their alpha is very strong. He was able to bring the pack back to its previous status. I heard he is very strict too. Their new territory lies by Edge woods south west boarder."
I've never heard this piece of information before. Never knew about this pack even though I often travel with Lucas every once in a while.
