Chapter Twelve
Ten.
The countdown for new years had begun and Fred and George were bellowing out the numbers like there was no tomorrow. Everyone was a little drunk, some still hungover from the night before, so the rowdy bunch were jostling each other and laughing.
Drinks were being handed all around, even Ginny was allowed some alcohol as they stood under the stars and watched the Twins organise their firework display to go off the minute it reached the next year.
Nine.
Melody was shivering slightly in the cold but was warmed up when Oliver wrapped his arms around her shaking body and pulled her close, covering her with a portion of his cloak. It brought back all too vivid memories of Snape doing the same thing.
The red-headed girl shook her head to disperse the thoughts rocketing through her mind as she tugged at the black embroidered jumper heating up her top half. Her bare legs were covered in goosebumps as she tried and failed to pull the short, tight skirt lower down her thighs.
An elegant necklace bumped against her chest as she jumped up and down slightly, trying to keep warm as Oliver laughed huskily at her erratic movement. No-one could see the necklace of course, and she wanted to keep it that way. She wanted to keep it as a secret between her and Professor Snape.
Eight.
Speaking of the black haired man, he was currently staring into the star studded sky as his warm breath condensed in an impenetrable white cloud above his head. He was wearing a knitted black scarf Molly Weasley had gotten him for Christmas and pulled it tighter around his neck, gritting his teeth with the cold.
He allowed his gaze to drop to the small, conversing crowd around him. They all kept their distance from him but as his eyes scanned the crowd he saw one person focusing all their attention on him. Melody was staring directly at him, not bothering to hide her lustful gaze as she knew no-one would notice - No-one but Snape, that was, who was smirking slightly.
Oliver leant in and whispered something in Melody's ear and as Snape watched, Melody smiled, laughed softly and planted a small kiss on his cheek - Enough to send a shard of ice through his heart.
Seven.
She's mine. He thought, narrowing his eyes at Oliver who was now caressing her cheek softly with his thumb as she snuggled back into his chest, revelling in the much needed warmth. Anger flared throughout his body, chilling his blood as he forced himself to look away before he was sick.
He didn't notice that his grip on his glass had tightened until a piercing pain in his hand signalled that the glass had shattered and was now embedded in his skin. Snape brushed it away irritably, ignoring the pain and the blood oozing from the small cut. His chest ached more than anything he had ever felt before, mixed with the pang of jealousy it was almost overwhelming.
Six.
Melody frowned at the scowl she was receiving, not quite understanding the consequences of what she had just done. Oliver, on the other hand, was oblivious to the murderous looks and instead planted small kisses on her forehead as she frowned into his chest, arms wrapped around his neck.
Professor Snape growled under his breath, receiving strange looks from the surrounding family. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to unclench the fists balled up inside his cloak, one of which was wrapped tightly around his wand.
Oh, how he wished to use it on Wood, how he longed to see Melody begging him to stop as he thrashed the foolish boy to the ground. The thought brought a sinister grin to his lips.
