Chapter Twenty-Two
"Ginny, no! I am not going over there! She hates me-"
"For goodness sake Oliver! Just talk to her!"
"But she'll turn me away!"
"She needs someone to talk to Oliver, she won't care who it is. She hasn't been herself recently, we've all noticed it." Oliver sighed exasperatedly, running his hands through his messy brown hair as he closed his eyes, swaying slightly to the music.
"But why should I be the person to talk to her?" He said quietly, opening his eyes as they settled on Ginny's deep brown orbs. She growled, resting her hands on her hips as she glared at him. Her billowing, white feathered dress gave her the appearance of a somewhat disgruntled swan.
"You still have feelings for her." She snapped and his eyes widened, small frown playing on his lips.
"How did you...How did you-"
"Know?" She finished for him, smirking broadly. "The way you look at her. I can just tell. Now, are you going to talk to her or am I going to have to let slip about your little crush-" Before she even finished the sentence he had thrown his hands up in the air, huffed, and walked over to the entrance of the tent.
Melody had dragged one of the chairs outside, Shimmering black dress trailing in the dirt as she rested her elbows on her knees, head in hands. Her eyes were unblinking, glazed over almost as she sighed distractedly and stared at a lone gnome trying to dig its way into the garden.
Oliver warily stepped out into the refreshing night air, trying not to look at her as she shifted and stared at him having noticed his sudden appearance.
"What are you doing here?" She asked softly, brow creasing gently as she gazed at him.
"I wanted to see if you were ok." He responded, tilting his head to look at her as his soft chestnut hair flopped over his eyes. She giggled, reaching up and brushing it out of the way before staring back at the gnome.
"Why, don't I look it?" She breathed and he became flustered.
"No-I mean y-y-yes! You look amazing and beautiful and-"
"Stop rambling, Oliver." She smirked, shuffling over and gesturing for him to sit beside her which he did tentatively. She sighed and rested her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes and listening to the gentle music. He frowned, nibbling his lip as he stared at her closed eyelids. Slowly, he placed his arm around her shoulder comfortingly as she nuzzled into him.
"Sorry." He breathed, throat suddenly restricted with her being in such close proximity to him.
"No worries. I guess I have been a little down recently..." She allowed a small tear to roll down her cheek before wiping it angrily away.
"Why?" He asked softly and she smiled.
"It's a long story." She responded.
"I've got time." She laughed, the first proper laugh anyone had heard her make for weeks. She looked up at him, tilting her head to the side with a delicate grin spreading across her moonlit face.
"You really care that much?" She asked and he slowly nodded. Her grin grew as she snuggled back into him, fiddling with the pendant delicately brushing her neck. She couldn't burden him with what was running through her mind, what was occupying all her time. The man she loved was a murderer, the Dark Lord's servant and it tore her up inside every minute of the day. "I can't tell you."
"Why not?" She frowned, hoping that he wouldn't keep pestering her about it.
"I-I-"
"You don't have to tell me Melody." He whispered, kissing her softly on the top of the head as she tensed. "I just thought I could help you get over it." She turned to look at him, one eyebrow raised.
"Help me... get over it?" She repeated, gazing indecisively into his eyes as he eyed her lips nervously, almost hungrily, before leaning in. Their noses brushed as his breathing became ragged and she frowned, not sure if she wanted to go through with it. Snape suddenly came into her mind, and all the times they had kissed. It wasn't right to be kissing someone else. But then she remembered what had happened that night, on the astronomy tower, and a sudden surge of anger swept through her body, a lusting to make Snape pay, and a desire to try and forget everything, to distract herself. "Kiss me."
Their lips collided and he kissed her softly, tenderly, cupping her cheeks in his hands as she leant into him. But it wasn't enough, she began to kiss him harder, more passionately, hands flying to his hair which she raked her fingers through as he brushed the nape of her neck with his thumb, pressing himself against her as her tongue entered his mouth.
Utterly breathless, he groaned softly when her kisses trailed from his lips, tracing the proud outline of his jaw before gracing his neck. She inhaled his scent, caressing his skin with her tongue as his hands slipped around his neck. His groans grew louder when her warm breath tickled his ear as she nibbled the lobe, whispering seductively,
"Come with me." She grabbed his hand from where is had begun creeping up her top and giggling, dragged him away from the tent. She picked her way delicately across the garden as she creaked open the kitchen door, stumbling into the dark room as he followed obediently after her. "Let me show you my room..." She stopped at the bottom of the stairs, wrapping her arms around his neck and leaning in for a long, lingering kiss.
When they reached the top floor it was difficult to split them apart, lips cemented together as his hands roamed all over her body, exploring beneath her clothes as she moaned, fingers raking desperately through his hair.
Her bedroom door slammed firmly shut behind them as he pushed her down onto her bed, knees pressed either side of her hips as she pulled the suit jacket from his shoulders and threw it carelessly onto the floor, tongue working in sync with his as he began unzipping her dress.
She was too far in, enjoying her liberty too much to worry that her parents could come barging in at any moment, or any of the guests for that matter. She just wanted all the heartache to go away, deluding herself that Oliver could do that. His body at least.
But no matter how energetic she was, how passionate, she still didn't get the same thrill that she did when it was Severus crushing her against the mattress, his fingers on her bare skin and his kisses on her lips.
It felt wrong.
But why had she convinced herself that sleeping with a man twice her age was right?
Oliver groaned, beginning to plant small, delicate kisses on her bare chest as he unclasped her bra and her hands tugged at his underwear. Their mouths collided again as their bodies met and Melody was sure that instead of saying his name, she had moaned for Snape instead.
It felt so wrong.
She was laying in his arms on top of the covers, not even bothering to cover up her naked body as she nuzzled into him, staring out of the window and into the cloudless, star specked sky fuzzy with the haze of a thousand candles. Oliver nibbled the tip of her ear, legs wrapping around hers as he pressed his pelvis onto hers, mouth still tickling her skin.
She smirked, closing her eyes and revelling in his touch as she thought of Snape. Oliver smiled when she giggled, thinking it was his fault but not realising that she was thinking of smashing the former Potion Professor's heart into a million little pieces, as he had done to her.
