November 1755
Lisbon, PortugalWe finally arrive in Lisbon, I finally get to see land again. For the past four months, I have been getting sick of the ocean! Once we get back to the Homestead, I don't ever want to see the ocean until I am forced to go to it.
Once Shay docks the ship I run off the ship, and I hug a wooden post.
"Land sweet, sweet land!" I exclaim. Shay gets off the ship and he walks up to me. I look at him, and I tighten my grip on the post.
"Having fun there?" Shay asks me while laughing. I look at him.
"As a matter of fact, yes I am," I say while grinning. Shay tries to pull me away from the post, "No," I hold onto the post.
"Kathryn let go of that post," Shay tells me. I shake my head, "come on, we need to find that Piece of Eden," I groan.
"Fine, but I am not going back on that ship when we are done," I tell him. I look up at Lisbon, and it is a beautiful city, "wow," I look at the city in awe, "this place is beautiful," Shay chuckles and he wraps an arm around my waist. We keep walking and the convict comes into our view.
"Feast of all saints, what a sight and here we are looking for relics from the time before Adam and Eve, these are strange days," Shay says. I look up at Shay and I place my hand on his chest.
"Well after we find this Piece of Eden, we can go sight seeing if you want," I say, then I stop and I stand in front of him, and I grab a hold of his coat, "then we can make the crew of our ship take a day off and me and you can have that ship all to ourselves tonight," I peck his lips.
"That sounds like a plan," Shay agrees and he kisses my lips, "I like the way you think Mrs Cormac,"
"I know," I say while smirking. We walk up the steps to the church, it was the biggest church that I have seen and the most beautiful in fact. Shay opens the large church doors, and inside I see a sermon going on.
The inside of the church was even more beautiful than the outside. I look at Shay and I smile. Then I look on the ground and I see four triangular symbols on the ground. I nudge Shay, and I point to the triangular symbols on the ground.
"Do you think that could to the entrance to the temple?" I ask him.
"I think the question is 'how do we get it open'?" Shay says. I look around and I use my eagle vision to look for any clues. I look around the walls and through the eagle vision I see the same symbols that were on the floor.
"Shay, use your eagle vision," I tell him. Shay raises an eyebrow, "on their wall there are symbols that match the ones on the floor!" Shay looks around for a moment.
"Your right," Shay says and he smiles down at me, "you clever lass," I smile, "okay you take those two, and I will take the other two," Shay points to the ones that I will look at.
I look on the walls and I see some spots that I can climb apon. I scale the walls and I find the my first symbol. I look at it and I see a rectangular shaped hole. I look at my hidden blade and I flex it. It looks like it could fit in there?
"Well here goes nothing," I mumble to myself. I stick my hidden blade in the rectangular hole, and I twist it. Then I hear something turning and an opening sound. I look down at the ground at the symbols and they rose up, "wow I can't believe that actually worked!" Then I hear another one opening. I guess Shay figured it out too.
Then I go to my other symbol and I do the same thing. Then once I unlock the other symbol I climb back down to the symbols on the ground. Then I hear another opening sound. The last symbol was unlocked.
I see Shay climb down the walls and he walks back to symbols. We step onto them, and once we do the newly created platform descends downward slowly. Then it stops and we see stairs leading to only God knows what.
"This must be it! The Precursor Sight," Shay says. We descend down the stairs. Then I look around the temple.
"This place is amazing!" I exclaim. I look down and I see a bridge being created out of nothing.
"What do we have here?" Shay asks to himself. Then we walk on the bridge to a platform on the other side. Then this chamber opens revealing the artifact.
"The artifact!" Shay exclaims. We walk up to the artifact and we are mesmerized. It was just floating on its own.
Shay picks it up and it glows yellow and then it disintegrates in his hands. Before we could say anything that temple starts to crumble down and boulders start to fall down on us. We get out of the way in time and we run out of the temple.
We get back inside the church and the church is crumbling down as well. The people inside run for their lives. Me and Shay run out of the church and the whole city is falling is apart. It seems that we triggered a massive earth quake.
Buildings start to move out of place. Screaming could be heard everywhere. The streets start to crack. Shay takes my hand.
"We have to get back to the ship!" Shay yells I nod and we keep running, desperate to get out of this city. I hear screams of agony, the screams of men, women and children, even the crying of infants.
We run inside houses because the streets were blocked by the falling debris. Then we climb on the roof tops because the streets below were on fire. Then we tumble back on the street once they we safe enough.
More and more buildings start to crumble down. We go back to running on the rooftops until the roof falls from under us and we fall into to a burning building. I fall on top of Shay, I think it was safe to get up and I do but then the floor supporting us falls from under us and we fall on the ground once again.
I quickly get up despite the pain and I grab Shay's arm and I pull him up. We run out the front door and I see that more and more buildings were moving out of place. We climb on the rooftops again and we go inside another building, but it starts to fall down while we were inside of it. We fall out of a window and our backs hit a building.
We get up and we continue running. We continue to run on the rooftops because of the burning streets below us. We see a lift and I hold onto to Shay and we go up the lift. We slide down a little and we continue running.
Another building comes into our view and we run towards it. We run up the stairs. More boulders start to fall down, we dodge them and we jump out of a glass window and we fall into the ocean.
We quickly swim back to our ship and we climb onto to. Some of the crew help us onto the ship. We fall onto the deck and the crew help us up. We get up and me, Shay, and one of the crew members looks at the destroyed city. I put my hand to my mouth to muffle a gasp.
"How could God to this to them?" A crew member asks. Shay shakes his head, still looking at the city.
"God had nothing to do with this," Shay say. I feel tears rolling down my face. All those people, gone. Shay looks at me and he hugs me and I bury my face in his chest. I glance back at the city. Then I remembered. Liam told me this before we ever set out to find the Manuscript and Precursor Box.
The exact same thing happened in Haiti.
