"You'll be sleeping in this room," I informed, pointing to my bedroom. Kai stood behind me, brooding. I swear, every time I get close to him, I could feel this gloomy aura emitting from him.  A sigh escaped my mouth, and I put on a fake smile.

"I will have to sort things out and clean the room since you'll be sleeping in my room, " I added, rather sulkily.

I moved on to the next room, " This is the guest room. It's where your parents will be sleeping, and see that small door beside their room? Yeah, well... that's the toilet. " Kai kept quiet as usual, not even a nod, and I sighed exasperatedly. Have I just been talking to myself the entire time?

Father decided that I should show Kai around the house in case he got "lost", and here I am, giving a mini-tour to this intolerable guy.

My pace slowed down when I reached the room at the farthest corner of the hall, and my throat tightened. "And this is the rec room," I said, my voice coming out all strangled and weird. I ignored the strange look Kai shot my way and took a deep breath.

"There's nothing in there. Just a few bookshelves and whatnot. You... You play piano, right?" Of course he does. What a stupid question.

Kai nodded and I smiled shakily at him. "There's a grand piano, inside. We haven't used it in a long time so it's rather dusty. But I believe it still works. You can play it if you want but please close the door when you play. Father doesn't like it when it's very noisy, " I lied and turned around.

Kai grabbed my shoulder and I turned around startled. "What?" I snapped, no longer holding my anger in. Kai didn't seem to mind.

"Can I try playing it now?" he asked softly, losing some hostility in his eyes.  It was the first time he spoke since morning, and his deep voice sent ripples along my spine.

"Y-yeah," I stammered, "Go on ahead."

Kai walked towards the room and pushed the door open. I braced myself for the sudden impact of memories. Memories of him.

The door creaked, and I slowly opened my eyes, one at a time. I realized Kai had already gone in. After taking a deep breath and giving myself a mental pep talk, I dug my nails into my palms and walked in.

The room hasn't changed. The bookshelves were tucked away in the corner, and the tabletop for table tennis was a few meters away from the books. A large wooden desk was right beside it; it was where I used to do my homework. Lastly, in the middle of the room, was the piano.

The once new and shiny pianoforte was now covered in layers of dust, as well as the piano stool. It looked abandoned and lonely.

My throat clogged up, but I couldn't seem to tear my eyes away from it. My fingers were itching uncontrollably, and I clenched them into fists. Kai was walking around it, touching the lid, and glancing at his dust coated fingers.

After mustering the ounce of courage I had, I took three brave steps toward it. I heard Kai murmur to himself as he wiped the dust off of the piano stool and sat down, rolling his sleeves up.He closed his eyes and placed his fingers in position. I swallowed hard with anticipation, wondering which song he would play. A part of me was warning me to get the hell out  but the other was urging me to listen and watch.

I saw him take a deep breath and he started to play. I let out a shaky breath I didn't realize I had been holding in so long.

As his fingers glided across the keys, perfectly if I may add, the name of the classical piece he was playing flitted into my mind.

Moonlight Sonata...

Originally composed by the famous and historical Beethoven.

And suddenly, the background changed and my breath hitched. Instead of Kai behind the piano, I saw a younger version of me playing the piece. I  shook my head vigorously, wanting to leave. But I couldn't seem to move my legs; they were glued to the ground.

"Good job, Alicia!"

I froze at the sound of his voice.

Mr. Owen strode into the room, clapping his hands.

Little Alicia looked up from the piano and her face lit up at the sight of her piano teacher.

"Mister Owen!" she exclaimed as she ran towards him to give him a big hug.  He let out a hearty laugh, the one that always warmed my heart to the very core, and tears started to flow down freely from my eyes.

"I've been practicing while you were gone! Do you want to listen again? I will play it for you!"

Without waiting for an answer, Little Alicia dragged her piano teacher towards the shiny grand piano. Mr. Owen smiled at his eager student and stood beside her while she played.

The memory was so sweet and endearing yet heart wrenching at the same time. I bit my lips, tasting the salty essence of my tears.

"Alicia!"

"Alicia!"

The voice of Kai snapped me away from my hallucination and I found myself staring back at his brown eyes while he shook my shoulders gently.

"Are you okay?"

I felt something cold on my cheeks and I wiped the tear that strayed from my eyes then stepped back.

Without sparing another glance, I ran.
