Jungkook sat up in his bed and sighed to himself. Areum had seemed very quiet today and he wondered what was making her feel down. But he didn't push her for an answer. He decided to wait for her to tell him willingly. He bit his lips, trying hard not to think about Areum.
He wished he had her phone number so that he would be able to text her. Oh wait, he thought.
Jungkook scrolled through Facebook and typed in Areum's full name. No results of her appeared on the screen and he tossed his phone across the bed. He looked out the glass window, admiring the view outside. However, he couldn't help, but recall Areum's frown. He ran his slender fingers through his hair in frustration.
He sat there on the bed, hopelessly wishing he could cheer her up somehow.
-
The sun rose and the birds chirped.
Jungkook opened his eyes, which were exposed to the bright light that shone through his window. He closed his curtains, falling back into his bed. He checked his calendar for what day it was. Friday. He checked the time. 9:12 AM.
He jumped out of bed. "Sh*t, I'm late," he put on his uniform and his shoes. His cat meowed and pawed at him for food.
Jungkook remembered his parents were out and quickly took out the cat food. He spooned it onto a clean bowl and placed it on the floor for the cat to it. He took his backpack and locked the door behind him. Jungkook quickly ran to the school. The school security guard glared at him and punished him for being late.
After the punishment, he walked up to his class and sat down in his seat next to Areum.
"Hey..." His voice faded.
Jungkook could see the bruises on her neck, arms and legs. He could see one on her cheek. She tried to hide them by using a few makeup products, but they still showed through. "Oh my god," Jungkook was breathless.
[a/n: coincidental astro reference ><]
Areum fumbled with her fingers nervously and bit her lip. She didn't want to speak to him. She'll just cause more trouble. "Tell me who did this to you," he said with a soft voice at first. "It's nothing you have to worry about," Areum looked out the window. "It is something I have to worry about," Jungkook grabbed her hand, "I am your friend."
Areum's lips started to quiver and tears started to form. She just wished the teacher would call her down from class already.
"S-Stop it. I-I can't tell you," Areum tugged her hand away from his grasp. Jungkook slammed his hand on the table in frustration and anger with a hint of concern. "God damn it," Jungkook yelled out loud. The whole class looked over to them in curiosity especially Park Yuna. She glared intensely at Areum.
"Tell me who did this to you!" Jungkook shouted, "who gave you these bruises? They don't deserve to go unpunished for what they did to you."
He felt a light tug on his uniform and he saw that Areum's hand was clenched around his shirt. "Stop it," Areum murmured softly. Jungkook saw tears running down her cheeks as she sobbed quietly to herself.
"Areum, I–"
He stopped talking the moment Areum slapped him across the face with cold, shaking hands. His eyes widened in shock at what Areum had just did. "Please just shut up," she looked across the room and saw everyone's eyes. She felt as if they were all pointing at her. She felt as though they were laughing about the bruises on her body and how she got them.
She was starting to get more paranoid by the second.
Areum left the classroom in a rush, leaving Jungkook standing there alone. He stood there for a moment, unable to process what had just occurred in front of his eyes. Areum! I need to get to her, he thought. He ran out of the classroom just in time to see Areum turn a corner. "Come on, Jungkook. You can do better than this," he muttered to himself.
Before he knew it, he lost her.
He clenched his hands into fists and cursed under his breath. He blamed himself for what happened. "I shouldn't have pushed her to answer me especially when I yelled it out in front of the classroom. She must've felt inferior. How am I so god damn stupid?"
Jungkook dropped to the ground, back against the wall. He covered his face with his hands and tears formed.
He pounded his fist on the floor, frustrated and angry about himself. Jungkook wanted to shout out loud — shout out his feelings, his troubles, and his secrets. They were all hidden inside him. "How can I be so worthless?" He looked at the palm of his hand before getting up.
He could hear the footsteps of a teacher, but it was too late to hide. He would get caught for sure.
"What are you doing out here?! You should be in class!" The teacher yelled out when he spotted Jungkook. "I was trying to get some fresh air. My head was hurting a lot," he lied. "Oh. Then, that's alright. Hurry up and go to class. Off you go," the teacher said. Jungkook bowed before he started to head to his classroom.
He sat down on his chair and started doodling on his notebook while eavesdropping on conversations. "Did you know Areum spends her time on the rooftop?" One of the girls whispered loudly.
Jungkook's eyes shot open. Rooftop. Gosh, I really am stupid, he thought to himself.
[A/N: baka xD]
He rushed out of the classroom and ran up the levels of the staircase, leaving him exhausted. I really need to work out again, Jungkook rubbed his back. He opened the door and was about to call out Areum's name until he spotted someone with her.
He squinted his eyes to look more clearly especially with the bright sunlight shining as well.
Jungkook was taken aback with the smile on Areum's face. It was just as bright as the sun itself. Blinding yet so beautiful. But who is that guy in front of her? "What an ugly hair color choice, too," Jungkook scoffed quietly, "I'll give it to him for his looks, but I'm pretty sure I look way better than him."
[A/N: egotistical boi xD]
"Why the hell is an orange peel in front of Areum?"
~
