"I hope you realize that I'm probably supposed to be talking with a teacher right now. You should've known there was a possibility we would get stuck here," Areum furrowed her eyebrows, slightly mad at Jungkook.

However, Jungkook stayed quiet. He had no excuse to make up on what had just happened.

Areum sighed. The room smelled greatly of disinfectants and bleach. It was not as small and tight, which was very fortunate for the two. Despite all the cleaning products, the room was slightly dirty so they were unable to sit down if they wanted to.

The awkward silence that Areum didn't intend to make, filled the entire room. She was almost too scared to even breathe.

She was slightly sweating as the room started to feel suffocating. She was feeling nauseous and dizzy. Areum placed her hand against the door as support for her body. Beads of sweat dripped down from her forehead. Jungkook looked up, noticing the scene in front of him.

"Are you okay?" He asked. His face was covered in concern and guilt.

"I'm fine," she snapped at him with a harsh tone. I can handle this. I've done this before. I won't let myself faint in front of him or anyone else, she thought to herself. Areum took deep breaths, trying to calm herself down. She murmured to herself that she would be strong and that she wouldn't allow herself to collapse.

Areum only hoped to regain control of herself. She took a step forward towards the door and her legs gave out.

Jungkook quickly wrapped his right arm around her waist, holding her tight against his body to stay steady. Her chest heaved up and down, out of breath. Her eyelids were continuously opening and closing, making her sleepier. She rubbed her eyelids before looking into Jungkook's eyes.

"Don't I feel heavy?" Areum looked down as she murmured her words with pain in her voice.

"Not even. You're light as a feather. You should eat more or else, you'll become too skinny for your health," Jungkook frowned with concern.

"That's not what everyone else says to me. I don't even know who to trust anymore," Areum whispered, a tear sliding down her cheek. She let go of him and stood up straight. After patting her skirt free from dust, she stood up and banged on the door with her fist. "Is anyone out there? Please open the door for us," she shouted out loud, hoping someone would catch her muffled voice.

"Is someone in there?"

"Yes! If you are able to, please call for the janitor to unlock the door with his keys," Areum replied.

"Hold on for a moment. I'll go get him," the person from behind the door ran off. Areum sighed in relief that someone had found them or else they would be stuck in the closet for god knows how long.

Keys clanked against each other as the janitor unlocked the door for the two students to get out. He was quite suspicious of what they were doing inside the room, but dismissed his questioning.

"Sorry, I was talking to someone with the radio so I wasn't able to hear anything and I locked the door," the janitor apologized to the students.

"It's okay. It's not your fault. We were never supposed to be here in the first place as we were originally heading to class," Areum gritted her teeth when she said the last sentence, making sure to glare at Jungkook. "I'll get going now if you don't mind," she bowed politely and walked down the hallway. The janitor walked off as well, heading the opposite way with a mop in his right hand.

Jungkook rushed up to Areum and grabbed her arm, stopping her in her steps.

     "Please listen to —"

Areum cut him off. "I told you not to touch me. Don't talk to me either. I'm done with being near you. I always get the consequences when I'm with you and honestly, I never considered you as a friend from the moment I met you. You're nothing to me," she snapped, yanking her arm out of his grasp. She stomped off, leaving him standing there in the hallway, stranded.

"I'm sorry," he whispered, looking down at the ground, "I'm sorry for being so useless."

TWO DAYS LATER:
[JUNGKOOK'S POV]

It has been forty-eight hours since she last spoke or gave a glance to me. I don't know about her, but every minute without her attention broke me slowly. At first, I thought that maybe I'll be able to make her happy as she seemed rather outcasted by the others. I wanted her to feel that she did have people out there.

     Happiness and friendship.

[A/N: OMG FRIENDZONEDDDD. I'm at lunch right now in high school. I'm not revealing my school unless I know you cause that's private and someone could find me using that information.]

I thought I could be her happiness and then, I realized something. Areum was right all along. I had pitied her being outcasted so I had tried to be friends with her.

I looked over to see her sitting on her chair, staring out the window and at the light blue sky filled with clouds. How stupid I was to think I had done nothing wrong to her. Seemingly, what she had said about me in the closet was all true, but I knew there was one thing for sure, she had said wrong.

"I know that you hanging around me is just a f*cking joke so that you can just leave me in the end."

     She was wrong about that.

Areum never realized how I truly thought or felt about her. She didn't realize that I never planned to leave her in the dust and me being with her was never a joke in the first place. Thanks to my mistakes, she was gone from my life. I was careless with my actions and thoughts. I should've considered the fact that she might not have thought of me as a friend. I made up the illusion that she did. Maybe it's the best if I just left her alone for now. Maybe she'll be better off without me. Maybe there will be someone else who will be there for her.

But I don't want that.

I hate thinking of what just happened. I hate thinking of all the mistakes I had made. I hate the fact that I didn't consider her feelings about me.

But most of all...

I hate the fact that I completely lost her.
