TWO DAYS LATER:

Jungkook laid his head on his desk, thoughts flying through his mind. He sighed, turning his head so he could face Areum. Her eyes were stuck to the board, copying down every important note she could. Her grades were getting worse as time flew by and Areum was doing all she could to pay attention in class. However, Jungkook couldn't focus. He was busy worrying about Areum than himself.

"Mr. Jeon, I would appreciate it if you would stop staring at Areum like she's your girlfriend. After all, I do not expect you to have one especially with your glancing eyes," the teacher snapped while facing the board. The chalk broke in half, a bit of powder dissipating into the air as it fell down slowly.

The classmates snickered and covered their mouths, before returning to their schoolwork.

Jungkook scratched his head with his fingers as his cheeks reddened with a pink color. He took one last glance at Areum and saw her looking at him with dull, lifeless eyes. He gently smiled at her with a concerned look, but she looked away before he could say a single word. He looked down and frowned to himself.

The bell rang loudly, causing some of the students to jolt up. They packed up their books and shoved them into their backpacks quickly, leaving the classroom.

"Areum and Jungkook, stay here for a minute. I would like to speak to the both of you," the teacher called out.

They both waited, avoiding each other's eyes. The teacher sighed and walked up to them. "Look. I don't know what in the world is happening between you two, but you need to figure out. It's obvious that something went on so solve this problem. It's becoming a distraction for both of your grades and they're slowly getting worse. I will have to speak to your parents if you don't raise them up before this semester ends. This is my final warning," the teacher said.

"We understand," they both bowed politely and left the classroom.

"Areum, I want to speak with -"

"Don't," Areum said, not turning her head around, "just don't bother me from now on." As she was walking off, her steps became more wobbly and she had almost tripped over herself. She stopped for a moment, causing Jungkook to walk up to her. He was about to ask if she was alright, but before he was able to, she dropped. Jungkook rushed and caught her body before it hit the ground.

"Sh*t," Jungkook cursed under his breath. He picked Areum up onto his arms easily and rushed to the nurse's office.

He bursted into the room with so much force that the door swung harshly and slammed against the wall. He laid Areum down on the bed, panicking as the nurse came out from the bathroom. "What's wrong?" The nurse asked, but suddenly noticed Areum, "looks like she didn't listen to what I said." The nurse frowned and shook his head.

"What happened to her?"

The nurse walked up to Areum and checked her pulse. "She should be fine and wake up in a few minutes. However, I think she should stay here for the rest of the school day. Moving around won't do any good for her. There is a thing I do want to tell you, but it's not my place to say. All I can warn you is to make sure she's eating properly and she's getting her sleep," the nurse sighed.

Jungkook realized that the nurse was right. Although Areum was not completely starving herself, she was actually eating and throwing it back up. It explained why her face was so pale in color and her nauseousness.

He brushed a strand of Areum's hair behind her ear and lightly squeezed her heavy hand. "Get better," he whispered quietly. He got up and said goodbye to the teacher, walking back to class.

"That makes me feel lonely," the nurse washed his desk clean with a paper towel.

TWO HOURS LATER:

Areum was wide awake, but she had to stay on the bed as the teacher had instructed. She was apparently directed that she was to never get off the bed or else, the nurse would snap her feet off. How ironic, she thought to herself.

The nurse had explained that Jungkook had carried her here as fast as a lightning bolt or a cheetah.

Areum sighed, knowing she was now in more debt to Jungkook. It was hurting her even more to know that Jungkook is still caring about her after all those harsh words she had said. But thanks to those harsh words, she had avoided the wrath of Yuna. However, in return for what she had done, Jungkook was now burdened with the pain instead.

A pain that even him can not carry on his back forever. It would eventually crush him, dead and on the ground. And with that, Jungkook would have to throw away the pain someday and move on.

Areum sometimes regretted ever saying those harsh words to Jungkook's face. She hated herself for being the cause of his frowns. She wished there had been another way where she didn't have to hurt him. Another way where she could've still been with him. But that would be impossible. The past can't be changed and they could only live the present and the future.

I hope that this never-ending cycle will soon stop.
