Chapter 26: Surprise #2

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Adrian's POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I raced down the hallway, being mindful of my mate who was in pain. She was having contractions about every 8 minutes, and my heart was bursting with fear, excitement, and love.
My babies.
All three would be born soon; would experience their first day, today.
Alexandria was whimpering in pain, her contractions becoming more frequent and painful as the minutes went by without morphine.
"Adrian," she panted, her forehead glistening with sweat, "Help me. Make the pain stop. please!" I kissed her lightly on the lips, giving her my strength.
"We're almost to the infirmary, Lexi-pop." I whispered lightly into her ear; if she stayed calm, then so would I. And right now, she was on the brink of freaking out.
After what seemed like hours, we finally made it to the infirmary, which was in the back of the pack house. Her parents, siblings, cousin, and my parents and sister were all waiting anxiously by the door, while the pack doctor stood calmly to the side. She gave me a steady smile as approached the doorway, calming my nerves.
"You ready?" She asked calmly.
I could hear the double meaning in her words. I gave her an excited, but weary, smile.
"I am." I replied.
She opened the door and lead us in.
**********
After that, everything was a blur. A dream.
Alexandria squeezed my hand so hard, that she broke it, so I had her squeeze my leg instead, but she still caused a bruise there.
For the whole 15 hours that Alexandria was in labor, she yelled that "she was going to murder me" or that "I wasn't getting her pregnant ever again."
Pretty normal for her.
One by one, our children came into the world; healthy and screaming their little lungs out.
First came Matthew Dallas, at 9 pounds, 7 ounces and 21 inches. My big Alpha boy.
Next came Camden Micah, at 8 pounds, 6 ounces and 19 inches.
Then came little Sierra Madeline, at 7 pounds, 5 ounces and 18 inches.
Then came the biggest surprise of all.
After Sierra, came little Charlotte Ambrosine, at 6 pounds and 10 ounces, and 18 inches, a 4th child to complete our family.
The doctor was completely awed that Charlotte had been missed by the ultrasound, thinking that she must have been shielded by her big brothers.
Alexandria was in complete awe of all of the them. She looked so adorable when she cooed at them for the first 10 minutes after holding them.
After she fell asleep, I rolled the bassinets with my children in them to a separate room, so they wouldn't wake up Alexa with their crying.
First came in Alexa's parents, her mother going straight to the girls, while her father went straight to the males. The big bad Alpha looked so different when he was smiling like a fool at his grandchildren. He was making them laugh when he tickled their toes. Matthew grabbed his fingers in his little hands and looked up at the Alpha with his big green eyes, and the Alphas' eyes softened so much, his face forming into a look of vulnerability. It never sunk in until then that he had four grandchildren, with one more of his own children of the way. One loan tear leaked out of his eye and slid down his cheek, falling onto the blue blanket of Matthew, the child for whom he was named after. But, he didn't know that.
After that, all other family members filed into the room. The babies soaked up the attention like a flower soaking up water after a long drought.
After 2 more hours, Alexandria woke up again.
"Adrian," She called, making me look up from the stack of financial papers I had been working on, "Come here." I set down the papers and tip-toed past the room that the babies were in. They had only fallen asleep about 30 minutes ago, and it had taken them forever to get to sleep. Once one cried, they all did.
I stopped next to Alexa's bed and knelt down.
"Yes, love?" I asked in a soft voice, eyeing her exhaustion-drawn face.
"Can we tell everyone the names now?
I got up and called everyone into the room, making sure they were quiet as they came in.
I sat down after everyone had filed in, and looked at Alexandria, cueing her to start.
"We're going to tell you the names now." She stated, and laughed as everyones faces lit up in excitement.
"First is Matthew Dallas, named after my father who saved me. Next is Camden Micah, after the man who taught Adrian to be selfless and brave. Sierra Madeline after Adrian's mother, a woman who nurtured him and brought this perfect man into my world. And finally, little Charlotte Ambrosine, named after two women very dear to my heart, who both saved my life and my mate's life." She said, tears falling down her face as she said this.
There wasn't a dry in the room, everyone was hiding their faces in their mate's chests. All the people for whom my children had been named after were sobbing the hardest; even the big bad Alpha, Alexandria's father.
Everything was perfect in my life. But it wasn't easy to get there.
I was grateful for my mate and my growing family. All the challenges had changed us completely.
But, the puzzle was complete now, and it was stronger than it ever had been.
It was completely unchangeable, completely unbreakable, and beautiful.
The way every ending should be.
AWEEEEEE! HOW SWEET!
The story is over! But, I still have the epilogue to write; I need to figure out what to write though.
This has been such an amazing journey, and I want to thank you all for sticking with me!
You guys have inspired and helped me so much with this story, and have even given me good advice for the tough stuff in my life, and I will be forever grateful.
I don't know if I should do a sequel, because the ending for this chapter suggests that the story doesn't need one.
If you want one, please vote! It will take me a long time to map one out if you want one.
Love you all!
~{Katy}~
ps..Epilogue will be up soon!
:)
