At the party Harry was praised by many people for his good skills at captaining and for winning. Romilda Vane hinted heavily that she wanted him to ask her to Slughorns Chrsitmas party.
"Are you going to ask Romilda?" I asked laughing as we taught our way through the fully packed Gryffindor common room.
"No," said Harry laughing. "Let's find Ron, I need to talk to him," we pushed more towards the crowd.
"Okay," I said and then a Pygmy Puff came into view. "Ginny's here-" and we slaked towards the Pygmy puff riding on its owners shoulder.
"Oh, are you looking for Ron? He's over there, the filthy hypocrite," she said gesturing to the corner of the room.
I looked and saw Ron and Lavender Brown with their hands wrapped so closely together I thought they would suffocate.
"It's looks like he's eating her face, doesn't it? But I suppose he's got to refine his technique somehow. Good game, Harry," and she disappeared into the crowd of people.I turned at the same time as Harry. As the portrait hole swung shut I thought I saw the hair of a girl I was looking for-
"Hermione," I whispered. Harry nodded and we ran to the portrait hole as quickly as possible.
"Where would she go?" I asked as we walked down the hall.
"I have a idea," said Harry and sure enough in the first unlocked classroom with saw Hermione Granger.
"Oh, hello," said Hermione in a brittle voice. "I was just- practicing," she said gesturing to a small flock of birds flying above her head.
"Yeah- they're... Uh- really good," said Harry flatly. I bit my lip as I watched the conversation .
"Ron seems to be enjoying the celebrations-" Hermione said in a high pitched voice. My heart sunk.
"Hermione-" I whispered sympathetically.
"Um... Does he?" Harry said with such a lying voice I was surprised his nose didn't grow two feet long.
"Don't pretend you didn't see him-" said Hermione. "He wasn't exactly hiding it, was-"
Suddenly I heard the door behind me open and heard the laughing of Ronald Weasley. I slowly faced the door to see him pulling Lavender by the hand into the classroom.
"Oh," said Ron as saw Hermione and Harry and I.
"Oops!" Said a giggling Lavender. The door swung shut behind her as she backed through it. Hermione stared at Eon and through the awkward silence I stared at my shoes mainly.
"Hi, Harry! Wondered where you'd gone off to!" Ron said in a fake cheery voice.
Hermione slid off the desk she was sitting on. Trouble and tension swam through the air.
"You shouldn't keep Lavender waiting outside," Hermione said quietly and with slight dignity. "She'll wonder where you've gone off to," I breathed in deeply.
Hermione began to very slowly walk towards the doorway. As I started after her Harry gently tugged at my wrist. When I looked at him he shook his head no and stared at the events unfurling before our very eyes.
"Oppungo!" Hermione shrieked. Her eyes were wild as the flock of birds she had just conjured flew from around her head and darted at Ron. They pecked and clawed at his skin.
"Hermione!" I shrieked.
"Get them off me!" Ron yelled in a muffled scream as he covered his face with his arms.
Hermione opened the door and ran out of it there was a small son before it slammed shut behind her. Harry and I glanced at each other. This was much worse than we thought!
