Chapter 2

Rin's POV

"Yah!"

"Nice Rin!"

"Best one yet." my friends were cheering as I got out of the water.

"How did I do?"

"4:03." Aiichiro said.

"Cool. And only 10 laps." I said excitedly.

"You are so ready for the swim meet." he said.

"I definitely thi-" I said then was cut off.

"Think you're not." my best friend Sousuke said walking over. I gave him a look.

"What do you mean?"

"What I mean is you may be read here. But once you get to the meet you don't be."

"I'll be fine. I'm the best at this stuff." I bragged.

"If you say so." he said walking away.

I walked into the locker room to shower. I stood there as the hot water ran down my head and back. Anger and pain started to fill up in me. I punched the shower wall, making some of the tile break.

'Haru' My eyes widened. 'That's what Sousuke meant.'

I turned off the shower, dried and got changed. I started to walk out, when I heard my name being called.

"Rin-chan!" Aiichiro yelled from down the hall.

"What?"

"Are you okay?" he asked catching up to me.

"Fine."

"Okay. Want to go out for drinks later?"

"I don't know."

"Okay. See ya later." he waved. I rolled my eyes.

I walked home to find my door unlocked. I slowly opened it. There in the living room, was my sister.

"Rin!" she said running to me.

"What's wrong?" I ask as she hugs me.

"Nothing. Just wanted to say congrats on your new time."

"Oh thanks."

We sat and talked about her day. She made me dinner, then went home. I changed into a tank top and sweatpants when she left. After I watched a movie, I laid down on my bed. Memories flooded into my head. Shaking my head I sat up and waited.

'I can't worry about that anymore. I have a competition to win.' I thought to myself. I closed my eyes to sleep.
