Chapter 3

Makoto's POV

"Why won't he answer?" I mumbled quietly. I looked down at my phone and waited for another 5 minutes till I called Sousuke again. No answer.

"Maybe he's swimming." Nagisa said stuffing a popsicle into his mouth.

"He might be. You never know with him." I sat down and grabbed the controller.

"Aww. I lost again." Nagisa said pouting.

"You said you were good at this game."

"Shut up. I am. I'm just...hungry." he said quickly. "Could you make me some food, please?"

"Okay." I said getting up.

As I walked into the kitchen, I heard Nagisa talking to someone. I immediately knew it was Rei. They're best friends and they are always talking when ever they can. Nagisa sometimes calls him at the most random of times. My phone started to buzz on the counter next to me. I looked at the called ID. It was Sousuke.

"Hello." I said answering the phone.

"Hi. Sorry I didn't pick up before. I was doing my laps." he said.

"I figured. You shouldn't be swimming." I said reminding him.

"I know. I just really miss swimming. Anyway, what's up?"

"You know how the swim meet is coming up?"

"Yeah what about it?"

"I know Rin will be there and personally I'm worried he may try to hurt Haru if Haru beats Rin again."

"I'll see what I can do. Earlier I told him that he wasn't ready for the meet. He didn't believe me and I figured he didn't understand at the time. But when I saw the cracked tile in the bathroom, I knew he understood what I meant."

"Oh. He must have been really upset."

"Big time. Who's that in the background?" he asked hearing Nagisa yelling at the game.

"Nagisa. He's over because Rei is out right now."

"Okay. What are you doing after school tomorrow?"

"I don't know. Why do you want to come over?" I said smiling.

"Maybe." he said. I started to blush at the way he said it. "I'm going to be at your school to inspect the pool."

"Okay. I've got to finish making Nagisa food." I told him.

"Okay. See you tomorrow, Makoto."

"Bye."

I finished making Nagisa's food. I brought him it and took off my apron. I walked upstairs to my room. I knew Nagisa would fall asleep eventually. So I made him a spot on the floor where he could sleep until Rei came to get him. When I walked back down stairs, Nagisa was laying down with his penguin half asleep. I walked over to him and shook him to wake him.

"Nagisa? How about you go lay down upstairs?"

"Okay." he said sleeply. He walked upstairs to lay down.

Time skip

"Makoto?" Rei said walking in.

"Yeah."

"Hi." he said looking around. "Where's Nagisa?"

"Upstairs asleep." I said chuckling. "He fell asleep about an hour and a half ago."

We walked upstairs to my room and found Nagisa sleeping in the weirdest position. Rei managed to get Nagisa on his back. We said said good bye. I walked back upstairs to my room. I went to bed and closed my eyes, waiting to fall asleep.
