Chapter 6
Down a dark alley, I was walking. Puddles under my feet, the midnight sky hanging overhead. Bats flew past me at remarkable speed, making their tiny bodies appearing to be a blur. Cold, stone walls were on either side of my shaking form. I was nervous for a reason that I was oblivious to at first. Then, I heard the pair of foot steps following my every move, stopping when I stopped, walking when I walked.
I made a final stop, inturrupting my ongoing pattern. The unsettling feeling of being followed crept up my spine and wouldn't leave for the life of it. Turning around, I saw a ghostly figure walking towards me, his face a mystery because of the shadows cascadig from the black hat her wore. With frenzied, erotic thoughts, I took off running in the opposite direction as if my life depended on every step I took. Something about this man gave me a bad vibe; it was like he knew something that I didn't.
A dark laughter began to fill my mind, making my eyes twitch and my feet pound harder onto the pavement. Water was soaking into the bottom half of my jeans, seeping through my flimsy shoes as I trudged along. I felt dizzy for a few seconds, but refused to stop my moving feet.
Another round of ominous laughter came spinning into my brain again, causing a headache that felt permanent. It was making me want to throw up everything inside of me. It felt as if my head were literally about to fall off. I risked a quick glance behind me and stopped without even making the conscious choice to do so.
No one was there.
My body was tense, waiting for something to lunge at me. My eyes flitted around frantically, my breathing coming in small, sharp gasps. After a few moments of still silence, I began to feel someone's breathe on my neck, giving me the most painful chills I ever had. I slowly turned around to see the mystery man staring at me with black, blood-shot eyes, his mouth in the form of a devilish grin. My breathe was caught high up in my throat as his low, rough voice spoke. “Hello Reese. It's about time we meet.” He tilted his head to the side, taking in my unmoving body, his eyes feeling like daggers. My already wide eyes seemed to grow wider- if that was even possible.
“W-who are you?” My voice came out as barely a whisper, raspy and scratched.
He chuckled at my question, shaking his head a bit like the answer was utterly obvious. “Why, Reese, I'm your Father.”
I shook my head and blinked, not exactly wanting to believe him, and the next thing I knew I was running to an unknown destination, my back facing this creature claiming to be my dead Dad.
I shot up in my bed, tears leaking out of my frantic, blue eyes. My entire body was sore from, I'm guessing, being so stiff; my muscles were still shaking from holding so much pressure.
I stumbled out of bed aimlessly, instinctively running my hands along the wall until I found the light switch. With the flick of my wrist, a blinding light flooded my room, causing me to squint my eyes and cover my face with my hands. I cowered to the floor in a fetal position and begin to sob as hard as a teenager like me possibly could.
Only one thought remained in my head: Was my own Father, who was long gone, really the one I was in danger of?
A/N:
Yeah, this is really short. Sorry about that. But I hope you enjoy this tiny sliver none-the-less. :)
