Chapter 27

MINDY'S POV

I look around at all of my friends who stare at me with blank expressions. As I take several deep breaths I see blood coming from Lydia's arm. I gasp and help her up. "Are you ok?" I ask her.

"I'm fine," she says and stumbles when she stands and shakes her head a little, definitely from dizziness. I catch her before she falls.

"You're not fine. Tyler, take her to the car, you know how to get back there." Stiles says pacing back and forth. No one moves we just watch him panic. He looks up and seems a little taken back at our actions. The actions of standing still. "What are you all doing? Come on we need to get Lydia to the car, find Julie, and get out of here!" He starts shaking and runs his hands through his hair.

I walk over to him and place a hand on his shoulder causing him to look up at me. "I think you need to go with Lydia and Tyler to the car," I say, trying to comfort him but it doesn't seem to work for he turns away. I inch closer to him. "You want to find Julie, I know. Believe me I do, too but right now, I think you need to go." He turns around and looks at me. Bags rest under his eyes and his face is droopy. I pull him into a hug and I feel him lean into me, realizing that he actually needed one. "I promise that we will get her out of here," I say into his ear as a tear falls from my eye. "I miss her so much."

"Me, too," Stiles says holding me tighter. "Me, too."

Stiles, Lydia and Tyler walk down the opposite end of the hallway and disappear around the corner while Parrish, Theo, Chris, and I go to search for Julie. We pick up our pace, following Theo to the last place he saw her. We come to a stop as Theo runs inside a broken cell. He shouts her name frantically while looking around in the room, but he can't seem to find her.

"I know Malia came but I didn't think she would take her," he says rubbing the back of his neck. "I think I know where she could be. Follow me."

We run past the cage and through heavy metal doors. Slowly, we creep inside to see a row of men surrouding Malia and Julie, who stand on a tall podium. We walk closer until Chris tells Theo to stop, saying that we will be seen if we go any closer, so we do as he says and we watch from affair.

"Men, this is the moment we have all been waiting for!" She says causing them to all cheer. "We will finally be the strongest people that ever existed! Soldiers will scream in terror, world leaders will bow down to us, for they will surrender! We will be invincible!"

Malia walks over to Julie, wearing all black, and places a hand on her shoulder. "She is what we have been searching for, all this time, the last Chimera." Chimera? What is a Chimera?

I look over at Theo, who looks down at the floor, just as Chris's eyes widen. I lean over to him and ask, "What is a Chimera?"

He doesn't look at me but he does respond. "There was a group, called the Dred Doctors, and they would create these creatures, chimeras, by using electromagnetic waves. Some would represent snakes, some would have the power to control electricity, but every one of them was part werewolf. Julie is one of them, and I think I know who changed her." He says as his eyes look directly at Theo, whose head is still hung down in shame.

I look back at Malia who started to speak again. "You all look confused, probably thinking, why don't I hold the powers? Well, you have someone to thank for injecting the last serum into her. It was quite frustrating that I would hold these magnificent abilities, but I found a way that I could control her. Let's demonstrate, shall we." Malia walked over to the side of the stage motioning for several guards to approach the stage with a big block made of silver. They set it down right in front of Julie causing Malia to smile. "Now cut it in half!" She yells at her causing long sharp claws to extend from her fingers. With one swift motion she cuts the block in half, without even a single burn of her flesh. The crowd cheers and starts stomping their feet and humming a toon in a rhythm so evil, goosebumps appear on my skin.
