"I always wanted to travel Europe," I had said that final evening. "I don't suppose I could get you to come with me."

Of course, her answer had been no. But I understood. Even though I thought it was crazy, I couldn't help but admire my blood sisters love for the blood bags.

So, after making final promises of killing each other, I had watched my blood sister walk away, back to her Ezekiel. Back to her Eden.

I awoke in the evening, climbing out of my hole in the ground. The sky is still a navy blue, meaning the sun had just finished setting.

I have been walking for about two weeks now, and I must say. The silence is driving mad. After walking around with the bleeding hearts for so long, I have forgotten what it was like to be truly alone. I had stopped in Old Chicago to feed myself and set an example for those who betray me. It's a shame I didn't stay long enough to see how the minions reacted once they woke up the next morning.

I sigh and stare out at the empty road in front of me. For the last several months I had been travelling with my blood sister, my sire, and a blood bag. We had been running around like wild geese, hunting down the psycho vampire known as Sarren. Once Allison cut the bastards head off, I had seen no more reason to stay. Of course, at the time I had thought I was going to die. Sarren had created a virus, a mutated version of the Red Lung virus that had nearly wiped out all of mankind several decades ago. But this mutated virus did a lot worse than kill the meat sacks. It also killed vampires.

The freak called it Requiem. It was transferred through the air, so any breathing thing could contract it. Which means, our food source would get it and then we vampires would tear out their pretty little throats, only to get the virus ourselves. But it didn't stop there. The psycho gave it to the rabids, and once they bit you, you got the virus. That would be how my sister and I contracted the virus.

I was pretty much dead. I knew that. We all knew it. But I knew that I would somehow survive this. So, I left Allison and Kanin to take on the battle themselves. The old man then discovered that the cure was in him, so the poor bastard sacrificed himself to the rabids, ridding them of the blasted Requiem virus. When we thought all hope was lost, my dear sister cut off Sarren's head and announced to us all she was a Master vampire, which meant she, too, had the cure.

So, after taking my fair share, I knew my time was done. Unlike my blood sister and her Ezekiel Crosse, I don't care much for the lives of a couple blood bags. They're our food. Why stick around to help them if we are just going to eat them in the end?

I shake my head, coming back to the present. Everything out here looks the exact same. I reach out with my blood tie and shake my head again. She hasn't moved. "So you decided to stay in Eden after all," I say aloud. "I can only imagine what they are doing to you."

I snicker at the idea of her strapped to the table, the scientists poking her with needles. Her own fault, really. She's the one who decided to hold onto her humanity. A real waste, really. She has a lot of potential to be a really good vampire. Same with her puppy.

After walking for a few miles, I feel the Hunger begin to stir. Even though I have gotten the cure, I can steal feel myself healing. Slowly, but surely. That virus has really done a number on me, and I'm starting to think it will never go away.

I walk for several more nights, my path completely unknown. I've been walking west, fully intended on seeing what as become of the rest of America, but the Hunger is starting to become restless and if I don't feed soon, I might go into a frenzy. Not that it might not be fun. But I would like to be fully here to enjoy the blood I am drinking.
