RING THE ALARM

"Shut the fuck up; I am tired of you constantly yapping on like a whining ass mutt. Can't you see that I am trying?" Sean snapped.

"All I see is you not trying hard enough. I had more help from you when we were just fuck buddies" Wendy yelled.

"Yeah and that was all you were supposed to have of been too... a fuck buddy. I did not want a child so early into my life; hell to be honest, I didn't want a child by you."

The tension of the conversation had the room full of heat; his words were branded into her mind and heart. Wendy was stunned and it wasn't long that she began to cry.

"You are a bastard; how can a man say that to the mother of his child? I hate you Sean, I hate you" she threw the bags at him and ran out of the house.

Sean huffed and puffed like the big bad wolf that he was and out of rage he kicked a hole in the wall. Storming off into his bedroom, he left the bags on the floor unaware that the lid from the sauce was oozing onto the floor. Sean stood over Ralph as he slept in the bed not knowing that his parents were at it again. The bitterness of their relationship was tainting more than just hearts; the downpour of anger clouded his vision but the gist of it all was their relationship was over.

The longer Sean sat in the chair next to the window the heavier his eyes grew. Still unaware of the stain that was bleeding into the three toned area rug that graced the wooden floors; he drifted off to sleep. Meanwhile, on the other side of the house, I was just wrapping up a two hour session with my online students. The hunger growls from my stomach were a sign that it was time to eat; however, I wanted to finish grading the assignments from three days ago. I try my best to deliver all graded work within two to three days for all two hundred - fifty five of my students. Finally, I was down to my last stack of papers and then it hit me. The pain in my side and the sound of that roar made it clear, it was time to get up and eat. It could not have happened at a more useful time; only having a small stack left, I decided to stop.

The house was quiet and from the open windows, I could hear the birds chirping outside. Spring was in the air and it showed with the snow effects of the pink and white petals that fell from the cherry blossom trees that were in my yard. I smiled inward and walked into my kitchen. It was going to take a minute before I was able to eat something hot and delicious; I struggled in thought about going out to eat. I grabbed a small bag of chips and snacked on it as I reached into the refrigerator to prep my lunch. After I had got the grilled cheese sandwich on the stove and the small pot of soup, I went to throw the wrappers and paper towels in the trash bin.

"Oh my goodness, what is causing that smell?"

My nose was turned up and I tried to hold my breath so that I would not smell the stench coming from the garbage. Holding the bag as far as I could away from my body, I carried it outside and put it into the dumpster bin that sat away from my house. As I walked towards my back door, I saw Sean's car in the driveway. Wondering if he was sleeping along with my grandson, I went in to check on them; but not before I washed my hands free from those germs.

Gathering the food and putting it on my plate, I got myself a tall glass of fruit punch and headed toward my son room. Taking a sip of the fruit punch, I walked through the house and I almost choked on it as I looked at the mess on the floor.

"Sean... Sean!" I shouted his name over and over again.

Sitting my plate and cup on the end table, I walked around the bag of Chinese food, bottled water, the baby clothes, and the red sauce that was embedded in the rug. All hell broke loose as he walked into the room looking puzzled at why I was screaming. Without saying a word, I walked up to him and slapped him across his face. Then the intense shouting match began.
