*Wakie wakie! Wakie wakie!*

I slowly opened my eyes to see where my phone was. I looked at my desk where it should be, charging. Just then my mother came in my room, "Turn that annoying thing off!" I slowly turned my head to her direction, "Love you too mom," I replied still groggy. She rolled her eyes and pulled me out of bed, "Ow, mom! That's my ear!" When she let go, I rubbed my ear trying to get rid of the pain. "Change your alarm, it's so annoying," my mom scowled at me. I walked over to my school bag and turned off my phone. "Breakfast is almost ready. Hurry up and get dressed," she growled before storming off.

Weeeeeell... That went well, I thought to myself sarcastically to the max. Mom is really grumpy in the mornings. She usually isn't home. Mom goes to work too, but she hasn't gotten any calls lately. She's a saleswoman, she sells tech to other companies and countries in the world. I feel bad because she gets stressed and I make it worse at times. She's the best in her department and gets to attend meetings all over the world. She brings us back things like toys and such, but she's always grouchy. She means well though, I gotta make it up to her somehow.

I began to get ready. I put on my skirt, tights, white uniform shirt, and my black blazer after finding my brace. I slipped the knee brace over my tights since it looked strange under my tights. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and dragged a brush through my hair to fashion it. Instead of just leaving it down, I pulled all my hair to my right side and tied it so it holds. I got my black sweats and black jacket I got yesterday, just in case.

I heard a knock on the door as I was getting my portable charger and ear buds. "Come in," I said without turning to the door, "I know it's you Taru." As I was waiting for him to say something, I remained faced away from him so that I wouldn't see his face. I already knew what expression he was wearing, frightened, with tears in his eyes. "Are you ok? I heard what happened," he sniffled. "I know you did... I'm fine. Dad left early today, right?" I whispered. There was no reply. I heard footsteps coming and I froze with tension coursing through my body. As I was waiting to see what would happen, a pair of arms wrapped around my torso, "I...I'm sorry," Taru began to cry, "I should have done something." My vision began to get blurry by my tears. My breathing became shaky and short, "Taru," I turned to look down at him. I placed a hand on his back and the other on his head, "It's not your fault. Mom woke up in a bad mood, its ok," I whispered pulling him in for a hug.

"Come on, let's eat then I'll take you to school. I'll have time to take you if we hurry," my voice cracked. "I would like that. Thank you Ane," I heard his frightened, quiet voice say. We made our way downstairs and quickly ate our food. Mother made eye contact with me a few times before saying something, "(F/n), Taru, I'm sorry for this morning," she started. "Nothing has been going well lately and it is wrong of me to take it out on you guys by yelling or..." she began to weep. I looked at her with teary eyes, "Mom, its ok. I'll take Taru to school today. Rest, dad will pick him up today and I'll be back at around 6:00 PM" I stood up to take my dishes to the sink, "Taru, please pass me all the dirty dishes we used," I said.

I cleaned the dishes as quickly as I could before looking at the clock on the microwave, 7:15 a.m. I kissed my mother's cheek before calling Taru from his room. "Taru, we have to go if we are gunna make it on time," I yelled out. We made our way to the bus stop to see the bus arriving. We boarded the bus and waited for Taru's stop. "Let's go Otōto, this is the stop," I said as I grabbed his hand. He jumped up and we walked off the bus, "Thanks again, Ane," he said quietly.

I looked at him realizing he is in middle school now and here I am, holding his hand, "You don't mind me holding your hand?" Taru looked at our hands, "No, you're my sister," he paused, "and my friends like you, so I get to make them jealous," he said with a little giggle. I stopped in front of his school, "W-what!? Taru, your friends are weird. Now get in there and make sure I don't get any stalkers," I said trying to suppress my laugh. "Understood. I'll see you at home," he replied before running into my old middle school. I glanced at the clock, 7:45. I had to rush back to the bus stop to make it to school on time. I boarded the bus that was near the middle school and sat in the nearly vacant vehicle. As I sat down I plugged the portable charger to my phone and stared out the window.
