I slowly opened my eyes, my vision blurry as I squinted my eyes to keep the blinding morning sunlight from hurting them. I was awoken by the birds outside on the telephone poles and trees. The sunlight poured in my room from the slightly parted curtains and hitting my face. I took in a slow, deep breath and stretched out my body in my warm bed as I turned away from the sun. I slowly sat up on my bed while rubbing my eyes. I slowly stood up and took a few steps to my desk, slightly limping and whimpering. Shit! I might have messed up my leg running this past week. I reached for the chair and sat down reaching for my phone, 7:07 a.m. "I have time. My appointment is at 9:00 a.m," I muttered to myself.

I took a shower, it was a bit difficult to support myself with my leg. I got out the shower as quick as I could and changed into a blue t-shirt and black shorts that were mid-thigh long. I grabbed my knee brace and slowly made my way down stairs barefoot. I got an apple and water and placed them on the table, then, I got a clean rag and an ice pack. I made my way to the table, pulled out two chairs, and sat in the one closest to the apple and glass of water. I lifted my leg and placed it on the tan wooden chair. I placed the rag on my knee and then placed the ice pack on top of the rag, wrapping it. I sunk into the chair after making sure the wrapped ice pack was balanced, and began to eat my apple.

I pulled out my phone to glance at the time, 7:36 a.m. Not bad. I'm making good time. I heard light shuffling coming towards me, I shifted in my seat to see who it was. "Good morning kiddo. I see you're up and at 'em," dad chuckled, "is your leg ok?" he asked concerned. I looked at my leg which was now beginning to get a little cold due to the ice pack, "Hm? Oh yeah, just making sure it's all set for the doctor, ya know?" He smiled at me and looked in the refrigerator, "Hey, I'm going to make eggs for us. Taru should be down any minute." "I'm right here dad. Good morning." a calm voice said. "Good morning Taru," I said turning to face him, "how did you sleep?"

The blue eyed brunette, that happens to be my brother, walked up and sat in the chair next to me. "I slept good thanks," he smiled at me. "Um... Hey, dad," I started, "Can Taru and I hang out with two of my friends at the arcade after my appointment?" He lifted the pan from the stove and emptied it on a plate, "Sure, if he wants to go, just make sure to be home by no later than 5 o'clock." I turned to look at Taru, "What do you say little bro? Wanna go to the arcade?" I said with a smile. His face lit up, "Yeah! Can we go for ice cream too?" he asked excited. "Sure Otōto, I don't see why not," I smiled back as he cheered, "Yatta," he yelled pumping his fist in the air.

I removed the ice pack and rag from my leg, revealing an area of cold, red skin. I massaged my leg a little before putting the ice pack and rag away. I sat down and continued to rub my knee before putting my knee brace and shocks on. The three of us ate our egg before heading to the doctors. Once we arrived, Taru and dad walked into the office, "Dad, I forgot my phone in the car. Can I borrow the keys and go get it?" I asked, "Sure, hurry back." he said throwing me the keys. When I came back from the car, I saw Taru sitting alone and dad at the counter to check in. As I got closer I saw dad walking away, "Come on Taru, dad's going this way," I grabbed his shirt and pulled him keeping my eyes on dad.

I felt him grab my arm, "Hey, what are you doing?" I turned to see a tall brunette with BROWN eyes. Holy shit! That's not Taru! "G-gomen!" I shouted while bowing, "I thought you were my brother! My bad. Well gotta go!" I shouted leaving the guy in shock. I quickly walked away to the other waiting room my dad went to. "You took long," Taru said, "the doctor said to take you to her office when you showed up." he finished. "Hurry up, we shouldn't keep the doctor waiting," dad said taking my arm. I feel so embarrassed. Well, on the bright side, we get to use the back exit to go home.
