I drew a line across the entrance of our cave, and muttered :" N'dah!"- to protect. As the familiar symbols appeared, I relaxed a little. Suddenly, I felt s hand on my shoulder. Grabbing my staff I whirled around and... Crashed into Percy. He fell down again, his nose bleeding. "Ouch... This is the third time that I had broken my nose today."  I felt  a bit guilty. "Sorry, Percy." He waved it off.

Just then, I remembered that I didn't check on Percy's legs yet. "This is going to cause you a lot of pain, Perce." He nodded. I wondered to myself how much pain he had gone through.

The moment I started to slide his pants down, I knew something was wrong. His right leg was just battered and bruised, but his left leg... He winced and groaned as I slowly removed the fabric.  Inside, his left leg was completely limp, and twisted in a strange direction. Blood was streaming out and making his jeans half red. I wanted to throw up. "Your leg is-" I started, unable to think of a word to describe it. "Shattered. Yeah, I know. I can't even try to set it." He said miserably. "Please don't tell Annabeth. Just say it's broken and will probably heal. She doesn't need to know." I stared at him:"But... Why?" " I don't want sympathy, not even from my girlfriend." Said Percy.

We sat together in the mouth of the cave, talking into the night. Percy told me of his adventures, while I told about mine. He was really sorry about my mother. I wished things can always stay like this in Tartarus, just us talking and no monsters. Of course, as soon as I'd thought that, a beam of light shot from the darkness, breaking my spell and knocking both Percy and I unconscious.
