"Wait, brother? What? I didn't know you had a brother!"
I don't even know how or where he lives. I know his parents died, terrible. But I never asked myself where he'd live. Maybe I'll get to know that one day, now isn't the time to ask. One thing is more important: I don't believe him. I'm like 80% percent sure the "I'm sorry" was lied so why not all of it? That other twenty percent left is Violet being stubborn by the way.
"Don't bother to answer, I don't believe a word of it anyway." I hang up and throw the phone to the other side of the room.
"He doesn't know." I tell Rider and Leo. Rider walks out immediately. Apparently if he doesn't get that information, he doesn't even bother to stand in the room. I expect Leo to walk after him and leave me alone but he doesn't. He sits down and looks at me. From across the room the phone rings which scared me because I presumed it would still be on anonymous.
"Rider shut down the anonymous mode. Or whatever it's called," Leo tells me. I nod. Looking at the phone I decide to not pick it up. Let it ring. He'll give up eventually. I focus on Leo, he'll for sure answer at least one of the questions I have. Let's ask the most prominent one:
"Why are Hunters helping a wolf in need?" It makes no sense, they are supposed to hate us."It's a long story and I won't tell you everything. But his mate used to be with us. A Huntress. We're trying to find her, and working together with her mate made the most sense. He wants to find her even more than we do, weird werewolf thing." I didn't expect that. I have a ton of more questions but Leo already walks out of the room and locks the door once again. Maybe now is the time to get some sleep. It's been a super long day. Get kidnapped, talk about Oscars, calling, getting stuck in a window, calling again... It's dark outside but I don't have a clock to see how late it is, I'm guessing somewhere a bit past midnight. In case you were wondering, there is no bed in this room. Only a table with a few chairs. I try to get some sleep sitting one of the chairs.
Hours go by and I can't sleep. Mostly because the chair is uncomfortable, and so is the ground. But also because the phone keeps ringing. Liam really doesn't give up does he? Or maybe it's Zac. It's probably Zac. I finally walk towards the phone. 47 missed calls. There are also 23 voice mails. I turn the volume down and take the phone with me, back to the ever so comfortable chair!
I can't sleep, and I'm bored. I've checked the room for exits at least ten times but there's no window or secret tunnel or anything like that. My head drifts the story of the girl stuck in the window that wasn't me.
Walking across the street I realise I need to pee. Right now. In the corner of my eye I see a restaurant, they must have a toilet right? Once I'm in the restaurant I see no one to ask where the toilet is so I'll just search for it myself. People, they're useful for nothing. Oh there it is! I walk in and pee. Of course going into one of the stalls first. Would be weird if I just started peeing. For two reasons. One: It's very hard to 'just start peeing' if you're of the female gender. You'd have to take off most of your pants and underwear first. The second reason is that it's just socially unacceptable. I don't know which is the main reason I don't do such a thing but let's go with the second, it makes me look like less of a weird girl.
When I get out of the stall I see something I have never seen before. A girl. No I've seen that. But I haven't seen a girl stuck in a window yet. I'm sure there's a great story here.
"Eh hi." I say whilst laughing to the girl. She tries to look around but bumps her head to the window instead.
"Hi." We are silent for a little while.
"So... do you need help? Or should I just let you hang there?"
"Can you help get me out of here? And with here I mean the window AND the restaurant." Well that seemed a bit obvious. No one gets stuck in a window by accident. She tried to escape. From a restaurant.
"Why do you need to get out of the restaurant so badly?" What's the worst thing that could have happened?
"It's a long story, you probably just want to get back to your table." I shake my head. "I don't have a table here, I came to pee. And I'm going to help you, I have nothing more to do anyway." I pulled her legs and she got loose a bit. She's not as stuck as she thought. A little ten minutes later she was out, but on the wrong side of where she wants to be.
"So, tell me the story girl." She sighs and starts.
"So I'm on a date with this horny player. He's only looking at my butt and boobs." She pauses.
"But then you can simply just walk away through the front door, so there's more to the story." I say and she nods in response.
"My friends made a bet that if my date went terrible I wouldn't be able to escape without their help and without the date noticing." I start laughing. Amazing. "If I do escape without him noticing, I win a 100 bucks. So, I want to win this." I look at her, she kind of looks like me and an idea pops up in my head. "What size are you?"
Five minutes later we swapped clothes and we're ready to set this plan into action. If he really is like she described, he won't notice the difference anyway. I take a seat in the chair of the girl. At the same time the girl in my clothes walks out and silently thanks me with a nod. I forgot to ask for her name.
"Hey, you were gone for a long time, are you okay?" Asks the guy sitting in front of me.
"Yeah, I'm fine I had eh... eh... something got stuck." Not lied. He has brown hair and bright green eyes. He looked stunning, I couldn't deny that. And there it was, I noticed something that would ruin the whole plan. Werewolves can sense other wolves. That girl wasn't a werewolf. But he is. And I'm pretty sure a fellow wolf would notice if his date suddenly turned into a werewolf. Yet, he didn't say anything. The night was actually a bit fun. We split the bill because I'm not letting him pay for someone who's not his original date. We walk out and before we go separate ways he stops me.
"So, where you ever planning me on telling what great magic trick happened in that toilet, or are we just going to pretend you're the same girl I came here with?"
That was the story of how I saw a girl stuck in a window. Funny enough, it's also the story of how I met Zac.
I see Liam is calling again. The phone's volume is down but the screen lights up anyway. Maybe I should answer it once.
"Hello?" I say.
"Rose, Zac's gone."
Gone?
