Me: omg Rach i have to tell you something!!!

Bestie: wth do you need to tell me at two thirty in the morning, Beth?

It's two thirty? I didn't even notice because all I was thinking about was Luke.

Me: I KISSED MY NEW NEIGHBOR!!!!!

Bestie: you're dating your neighbor?

Me: well, no. not technically, but we did go on a coffee date and kissed TWICE!!

Bestie: so you are dating your neighbor.

Me: well, yes. we are.

Bestie: what's his name?

Me: Luke :)

Bestie: Luke with an L?

Me: yeah, why?

Bestie: because i saw a message in your inbox that had the contact name L

Bestie: you know that's him, right

Me: wait what?

Bestie: think about it. you told L you loved Luke and that Luke didn't say anything back. five minutes later, in comes Luke with the i love you bomb.

Me: that's probably just a coincidence.

Bestie: he texted you that he was moving in somewhere on the same day that you got new neighbors.

Me: oh my God, it is him!!!!

Bestie: is it too late to say that i told you so

Me: no, of course not. thanks, Rach!! :)

Bestie: mhm.

Me: i have to go. i'm going to tell him to explain all of this.

Me: L, we need to talk.

L: about what?

Me: what happens when people lie to each other.

L: lie? what did i lie about?

Me: just your entire identity.

L: my identity?

Me: yeah. you won't even tell me your name. and then whenever we text about Luke he just happens to show up right then.

L: Beth, that's just a coincidence.

Me: is it? because i beg to differ.

L: what are you talking about?

Me: do you think i'm stupid and don't know that it's you, Luke?

L: shit. how did you find out?

Me: i have my sources.

PrettylilLiAr: ugh, fine. i'll admit it. it's me. please don't hate me, though.

Me: it's too late.

PrettylilLiAr: please, Beth, forgive me. I love you.

Me: The number you are trying to reach has blocked you.

Me: Elizabeth!! PLEASE ANSWER ME!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!

Babe: The number you are trying to reach has blocked you.

Me: the messages are being delivered to you, so i know you didn't block me. please answer me, Elizabeth! i'm begging you!

Babe: wanna bet

Me: Elizabeth, please. I wanna show you how much i love you. I wanna prove to you that i still love you and care about you.

Me: cot dammit, Elizabeth!!!

Ugh, I have to show her how much I love her.

I ran next door and rang her doorbell. I was so nervous, it was unreal. I was literally shaking.

No answer.

I rang again.

No answer.

I rang again.

Someone answered, but not who I wanted it to be.

"Oh. Hi, Mrs. Young. Is Elizabeth home?"

"Sorry, honey, she's not. Did you need her?"

yes.

"Uh, no, nevermind."

i do, that broke my heart.

"Do you by chance know where I can find her?" I asked carefully, dreading the tears rolling down my cheeks.

"I think she said she was going out with some friends, if that's any help." She said goodbye and closed the door.

I quickly found my feet rushing towards the woods behind our houses, and the hot tears made every step harder than the last.

Every five steps I took, I called for her.

"Elizabeth!!"

"Elizabeth! Please answer me!!"

"Elizabeth, I know you're back here! Please say something!"

"Elizabeth!!!!"

With every call, I broke down more, almost to the point where my voice was barely a whisper.

She's obviously not here. There's no point.

With every step towards my house I convinced myself that she wasn't worth looking for anymore. If she wanted me like I want her, she would've said something by now.

There's just no point.
