Naturally, I missed the Sunday service and my parents were least happy with it. "Amy was spiking a fever." That was enough to get them out of my hair, for now. I was clearly on the edge since Pastor Jim might have mentioned our running in yesterday. I was just hoping to whichever god is true right now that he didn't mention anything.

During dinner, I was trying to act as normal as I can without letting anyone know that I'm guilty of something. I looked at both my parents and they seemed to be calm and normal. Then my father spoke as if knowing my nightmares. "Pastor Jim mentioned he run into you at Wincore." I'm sweating like a sinner in church, literally. "Oh, how is he? Well yes I was." I tried to be calm and use my most pretentious smile. "You didn't mention it, darling." It was my mother, obviously with suspicion.

"Didn't I? Oh I'm sorry. But it was actually a spur of the moment. It's my friend's birthday and we had dinner to celebrate." I was still smiling, talking as casual as possible. "Amy's birthday was four months ago." My father knew this since he was invited by the judge to the twin's grand birthday celebration. "It wasn't Amy's. It was Greg's. A friend from the swim team."

"I didn't know you have many friends, Frankie." I can feel that is was more of a mockery than a question. I was biting my tongue back from answering her. "Well, we would like to meet them. Maybe a dinner next Sunday?" I am almost losing my composure but managed to give a smile. "I would tell them." And the conversation ended, much to my delight.

I was heading to bed when my phone buzzed. Josh's name was flashing across the screen. "Hello?" I murmured slowly. "I miss you." His voice is enchanting that I was smiling ear to ear, this time truthfully. "Can I see you?" My heart thud.

"I don't think so. I won't be allowed to." I glanced at the clock and it read six in the afternoon. Then a plan was brewing inside my head. "Wait, where?" I can feel that the boy across the line is smiling. "Well, wherever you wanted." "Meet me at Amy's." And I ended the call. I changed into a pair of pants and a sweater. I headed downstairs to where my parents are. "Hey, mom, dad, I left my chemistry notes at Amy and I just realized I have to make a final edits on my homework. I'll just get it and be back before ten." My mom was eyeing me suspiciously but my dad nodded as he heard it was for school. I murmured thanks and headed towards the backdoor knowing that my old bike is still there and hoping for it to be functional.

Cameron and Josh were talking at the patio when I arrived. Both of them looked at me when I skidded my bike and hopped out. A bored looking Cameron was huffing and an all smiling Josh was there. "How did you manage to get out from the clutches of hell?" It was Amy opening the door for me. "Hi to you too. Well apparently, 'I forgot some chemistry notebook at your place' and I have to get it. You know how they are when it comes to my studies." She smiled because she understood. She always did, despite how things have been with her own parents, she knew how I am feeling and that makes me happy.

Josh stood behind me and placed an arm around my waist, kissing my neck on the process. "Fine I'll leave." Amy had her hands up in surrender and went up her room. I giggled and faced Josh. "Hey you." And he greeted me back with a fervent kiss. "Hey you too." He managed to say between passionate exchange.
