So Close yet So Far

Chapter 14

Dom's P.O.V

When she woke up my wolf was practically howling in joy inside my head. And when Carson called for me I just wanted to kill him for ruining my happiness. But even so I went with him. We reached the prison cells which were under the pack house. When we opened the cell where we put the prisoner he was smiling smugly like he knew something that we don't. It was only making me more annoyed and angry.

"Now that you are awake please cooperate with us" I said in a tone that showed me I was dangerous. "Now, now I doubt that you are able to hurt me sir" the prisoner said, his tone matching his smug look. I growled at him my anger flaring. I was about to punch him but somehow he got out of the chair and he was now standing at the corner. "Wait what" I said still surprised. "Told you, you couldn't hurt me" the prisoner said while Carson was going to tackle him. But the prisoner dodged and he disappeared right in front of my eyes. Carson just embarrassed himself and the prisoner escaped. I mind linked the warriors of the pack to have a look out for the prisoner and to find and capture him if possible.

I went back up the room and saw Tara on the bed resting. She looked beautiful as ever. I asked her if she was fine and she said yes and I was happy that she was fine. I was about to start to explain to her about everything but I was mind linked by Carson to help with the search. I left the room making sure that Tara was comfortable and that she will have enough rest.

I went out of the pack house and shifted to my wolf form and I tried to track the prisoner as best as I could. The prisoners scent was lingering in the air but it isn't impossible to track him down, I was in a tracking group with the best trackers in the pack...We found him in a clearing panting, I growled at him and a series of growls followed. He looked at us and I noticed he didn't have any other emotion written on his face besides exhaustion. I took a few steps forward and was greeted by a mountain lion, female by the looks of it. It barred its teeth at us in a menacing growl, claws unsheathed, position easy to read but hard to dodge or block the moves if it strikes.

We fought, the others standing back because they were being blocked by us fighting. The lion struck at me with its giant paw but, thanks to my great reflexes, I dodged. I strike it next with my teeth and I bit a part of its leg. It growled at me, its eyes had a fire in them that proved that it was very angry. I growled back and continued the fight by clawing at its eye.

The fighting stopped after a few hours and the lion and I were wounded badly. The lion backed away and had enough strength to run away. After it left the members of my group looked around the clearing but they couldn't find the prisoner or even track his scent.

It was already dark when we found the prisoner in the clearing and by now I guess it was already midnight. We went back to the pack house and I went to check on Tara.

I opened the door expecting for her to be on the bed but she wasn't there and the window was open. I sighed in defeat. She must've run away. I just hope she's okay and that I would see her tomorrow.
