    |Sept 1991|

     |Leilani|

I had been asked by Dumbledore that if I wanted to be kept secret as a Malfoy was to not be in Slytherin. I was suggested to be in Gryffindor instead. I talked to Father about it, he disagreed, then I had said "Do you not want me to be exposed if I was in Slytherin? Telling all the purebloods, I am not one of them by blood."

"If you do not want---" He looked at me. "Alright, darling. I think it's best to hide your true self in Hogwarts."

"Thank you, father." I gave him a kiss on the cheek.

I turned twelve back in March, but Dumbledore wanted me to stay home another year because he had owled me about another brother, a half-brother, I haven't known about. Who was a year younger, Draco's age. I was older. I was older than Draco by a year and this other half brother, by the same year.

The day, father and Narcissa sent us to King's cross, it was pleasant. Living with Father, Draco and Narcissa for two years, I didn't want to leave. I knew I would miss him the most. Narcissa still disliked me as she had when Father told her of my true identity. I didn't really care. She wasn't my real mother at all and I wished I had met my mother. Lily Evans. A muggleborn, who Father had hated for many years. Draco, a eleven year old boy, my young half-brother, vowed to protect me while at Hogwarts. I still didn't know what kind of vow they had, but Father said it was some kind I shouldn't have worried about.

Draco had gone to some friends in a compartment. I found an empty compartment and read my book "Romeo and Juliet". A boy entered the compartment, he had dirty blonde hair.

"Hello, is it alright if I sit with you? No other compartments are empty like this one." The boy asked me.

"Yes, of course."

He sat across from me, as I read my book. "You are a muggle?" The boy asks, staring at the book in my hand.

"Uh, I am a half-blood. So, part muggle is best to describe me." I kept reading my book.

"I am Kastor. Who are you?" He smiles.

"I am Leilani. I advise you to call my Lei." I slightly smile.

"Do you know your house? I probably end up in Slytherin."

"I might be in Slytherin. Though, I dare say, I shouldn't be there. I am not allowed."

"Why?"

"You will know in time, Kastor."

They had talked more and more every second with a promise of being friends even if they end up in different houses. She asked if he would betray their promise if he was in Slytherin. He said he would never do such a thing once he promised a thing like that. He keeps his word, to anyone, no matter who they are. Leilani started to like him, but he would fight for what she didn't believe in. She would know in time.

Draco hadn't come to find her or talked with her since they got on the train. She wished he sat with her the whole time and got to know Kastor. He was Draco's age after all, and her being a year older, didn't make her feel any better. She needed friends her own age.

They finally made it to Hogsmeade Station, where all students get off to get on carriages and onto the boats with Hagrid. She was finally getting on the boats after years on being told no by McGonagall and Dumbledore. Hagrid waved at her as she came over to the group of first years with her luggage. She hadn't been in Hogwarts for two years, and she was finally back. But, as a student and not a little girl running around anymore.

She had known every professor at Hogwarts. Mostly her "aunts" and "uncles". Out of all the professors, Severus was the one she was closest to. She didn't know why it is was him, but he taught her all she knew about Potions. She would do well in his class. If she decided on Gryffindor, that was. He mentioned her mother a few times while she was living at Hogwarts, she suspected that he knew her--like truly knew her. She never asked. She couldn't.

They were in the Great Hall, in a group huddled in front of the steps and McGonagall. One by one. A bushy haired girl went first. Hermione is her name. Must be a muggleborn. Then, the hat called the girl to Gryffindor. Others went. Than, Lei, who had been called "Dumbledore's niece". Others stared at her. Kastor was one of them. She couldn't tell him why. One day, she will have to. She whispered to the hat, "Gryffindor". He shouted "Gryffindor" and she had gone to sit across from Hermione and next to Percy.

"Leilani, it's been a while. You never visited us again since that Christmas two years ago." He whispered.

"Yes, Perc. I know. I was pretty much watched in the home I was living in since that Christmas. Now, I am here, we don't have to worry." She whispered back.

No one had heard their conversion at the table because they were watching the sorting coming near to an end. A black haired boy with glasses, sat on the stool. He was talking with the hat. The hat placed him in Gryffindor. The boy sat next to her. Hermione stared at them both. Like she had seen a ghost. Kastor was up next, he quickly made eye contact with her and smiled. "Slytherin!" The hat shouted. She knew it once he sat in her compartment on the train. He had looked the type, must be full pureblood.

Percy, Fred, George, Ron and Leilani talked and how they had been since they all last saw each other. Hermione and the black haired boy shocked to know of this young girl who knows people they had just met. Leilani says she used to live in the castle until she was ten. Hermione questioned where she had been afterwards to be on the train today.

"Uncle sent me away to another school for awhile since I knew everything here too well."

No one must have seen her at King's Cross with Father and Draco.

"How old are you?" The girl questions a lot.

"I am twelve. Uncle kept me away another full year because he thought I could--" I thought for awhile. "I am not really sure. I obey uncle as what he says. Always."

"Are you really with Dumbledore?" Hermione was curious, as not believing Lei was Dumbledore's niece.

"Yes." She quickly turned to Percy. "Perc, how's Bill and Charlie?"

"They are fine. Bill's a curser for Gringotts. Charlie went to Egypt to work for dragons. he was still here when you mysertiously disappeared one day."

"I know. Dumbledore made sure I was gone before I had to chance to tell. I was so upset."

"You really fooled us, Lei. You never told us where you really went off to."

"I told you, Percy. Another school. Ask Dumbledore, if you don't believe me."

"Leilani, you have to spend the holidays with us this year. Mother will be happy to see you again." George said, nodding to Percy.

"Yes, Leilani. Please, mother has asked Dumbledore. He told her you had gone off to another school." Fred answered before Percy said another word.

The first night in Gryffindor was good. Her room was Hermione, Parvati, Lavender and Leilani. She started getting along with the girls. Draco entered the Malfoy connection--thing. She still had no name for it.

Father vowed me to watch over you. It will be a little hard with you in the Gryffindorks.

It does not matter, Drake. They are not dorks! You take that back!

No. I saw you talking with the Weasels at dinner. Do you know them?

I used to live here, remember? I knew a lot of students, some are now seventh years.

Goodnight, Leilani.

Goodnight, Drake.

Leilani went to bed after another few minutes talking with the girls and Draco. No one will ever know that Draco and I were related.
