Halla is being dragged into the house again.

She messed up. Again.

Her mom's grip around her hair tightens and she tries not to scream, as she is pushed to the floor. What a good way to be welcomed in the new house.

The boxes aren't even unpacked, and here she is, being slapped across the face by her Mom, just because she let her things accidentally drop to the ground.

What a perfect way, to start new.

Her mom curses and Halla stands still.

She lets everything happen. It's her fault anyways.

(Halla Pov) (Main Pov)

"Mom, I'm sorry", slips out of my mouth. I shouldn't have said that. I flinch as she raises her hand again. I feel the mark on my skin. She lets go of me and steps back, cursing. She is mad at me, now because the mark is visible.

It burns bright red on my cheek.

I can still see it in her eyes, though.

She hates herself for it, she feels disgusted.

We make eye contact for a few seconds, before she turns around and leaves to her room.

I sigh. I admit, I still sometimes think, she would go back to normal. I go to the bathroom and check myself in the mirror.

Bright red.

And tomorrow's the first day of school.

Awesome.

I quickly put my earplugs in and storm out of the house, saying a little "bye" to my mom. She whispers something back, which I don't get.

Dean blasts loud his "I'm not sorry" into my ear, as I speed up. It is dark, but I believe, I can see clearer than on the day.

In my opinion, the night has something that screams, loud and at the top of it's lungs, whilst the day only hesitantly whispers about it. In other words, I feel free of everything at night.

I hear my own footsteps and look up to the sky.

It is dark. I can make out grey clouds, promising rain and- oh, there we go.

I lower my head and put my hoodie on.

I love rain.

The thunder growls, as I make my way to a still burning street lamp. The only one in this street. I cock my eyebrow in surprise, as I walk towards it.

I sit down on the sidewalk, watching the rain. It doesn't bother me though.

Long ago, I was a sunny person.

My thoughts slowly drift off to tomorrow, thinking of that scaring first day of school. I put my cool hand on my still burning cheek and-

Wait.

I look, where the noise comes from and see a few men approaching me, eyeing me. I quickly turn around, so that they can't get a good look of me, as my heart starts beating faster.
