[ay we wake up in the world of steel. makes rainbow.]

Steel awoke, sitting up in his red-and-white bed. He stared at the ground and toppled off it. He scratched his head tiredly, glancing at his sisters room. Her door opened and she stumbled out in her regular school attire, she basically wore the same three t-shirts every few days. It was really old at this point. He slowly clapped in the background and she shot a glare at him. ''Oh hey, its the one of the t-shirts you wear everyday! Its my favorite, the black one!'' He mocked slowly, snorting quietly. She huffed and crossed her arms. ''Says the one with a picture of Jake as their screen-saver.'' Kestrel spat. He blushed angrily and clenched his fists, shaking one at her. ''I hate you.''

''Same here.''

She walked off into the kitchen, Steel lumbered behind. He grabbed his lunch off the table as Kestrel slowly ate her breakfast. He wasn't 'hungry' today. He had so many nightmares about rejection last night. And it was off to school after Kestrel finally finshed her breakfast. They stood at the bus stop, Kestrel glancing at him. ''So anyways, why didn't you eat? I thought you loved bacon and sausages.'' She almost laughed at sausages, keeping it in as an awkward giggle. Steel sighed slowly. ''I just had a few..nightmares last night. I really don't want to talk about it.'' He grunted, spotting the bus driving near them and stopping. Its door's flung open and Steel was the first inside, lumbering up the stairs like an angry giant, Kestrel slowly following behind like an elf. They sat beside Kate, who always took the front seat, Kestrel taking the one next to it. ''Yo.'' She waved, not being bothered to look up from her phone.

''Hi.''

Kate then finally looked up from her phone, raising an eyebrow at Steel. ''You seriously didn't tell him his hair is a mop. Its like everywhere.'' She scoffed, waving her hands a little at 'everywhere'. Steel hissed and shot a glare at Kestrel, trying to mess his hair back into place.

''I didn't see the difference, it's always a mop anyways.''

''True that.'' Kate 'fingergunned' Steel. He grumbled and crossed his arms, kicking at the cushion in front of them.

The bus finally arrived at their middle school, the gang coming down off the bus almost in unison. Steel noticed Jake hadn't been in the front seat with Kate, he sided next to her to ask why. ''Why wasn't Jake with us today?''

''Wouldn't you like you know.'' She smirked.

''Just tell me.'' He huffed, glaring at her. ''Oh, he went to sit with straight-king in the back.'' Steel blinked. ''You mean Alex?''

''Duh.'' Kate shrugged slightly.

''Why would he sit with him? Does he not like us?'' Kate almost snorted at Steel's questions. ''You realize he's in our friend group too, right? He just felt like sitting with another friend, don't get all homo-jealous on me now.'' She blinked, putting her arms up. Steel growled again. ''Your basically half homo yourself.''

''Lesbian.'' She corrected.

''Your still half straight.''

''Guys don't interest me as much as girls.'' She shrugged.

As they entered the dark school, there where police officers near the Gym, Kate narrowed her eyes.

''The hell...?'' She muttered, glancing at Steel. He shrugged weirdly. She shuffled more towards them to overhear. ''You sure you saw him here?'' The officer glanced around. ''Sure.'' Responded the Gym teacher, nodding her head in unison with her assistant. Kate couldn't hear the rest because she shuffled on the other side of Steel, muttering things to herself. ''Who were they talking about?'' He grunted loudly.
