"he's got an enlarged spleen," saeko informed them, sitting on a stool next to the bed. "it's gotta be removed, kid."

"wh-what?"

"spleen's gotta remove worn-out cells from your blood. it's been doing that so much that it's pressing on your organs. it's gotta go, as soon as possible. don't worry, the surgery's completely safe. you'll be back in bed before you know it."

"what if it gets removed?"

"well, he's gonna have to be careful for infections, since the risk's gonna be higher, but other than that, nothin' to worry about," she grinned. "we just gotta go through some vaccinations. that okay?"

"yeah," iwaizumi nodded. "we can do that."

"oikawa can stay here if you want 'm to," she said, taking some materials out of a little cart she had taken along. "though he's gotta go before surgery."

"when is it?"

"whenever you want it to be."

"do it now," iwaizumi said shakily. "before i start freaking out."

"shots first, kid," she said firmly. "you two say goodbye. he'll be up again tomorrow."
