Chapter 24

You arrived at school early in the morning, and headed straight to the music room. you opened the door and as if on cue Kaoru stood up and simply walked out, straight past you. You let out a small sigh and headed towards Hikaru.
"This better work..." He just gave you a soft smile and patted your head.
"Just get through todays lessons and we'll sort out the rest. You'll be talking again by the end of the day. You gave him a small smile and a nod before you both left the room, waving to the rest of the host club as you both walked to your lessons together. You found Haruhi on the way down, and the three of you entered the room. You completely overlooked Kaoru's existence, keeping your focus on the conversation Hikaru had started down the hall. You sat at your desk and listened, chipping in once in a while, until the teacher walked in and you allowed the day to float away.

Time Skip

You followed Hikaru down the hall as soon as lunch started. He led you to a small empty room. Judging by the amount of dust it appeared to be a storage cupboard that the supplies that usually resided within it had been removed from. You sat down on the floor, the small light that hung on the ceiling rocking back and forth as you waited. In a matter of a minute or so, the door swung open and someone was pushed so hard into the room that they hit the wall and fell back with a thud. You squeaked and jumped out of the way as they stood up, rubbing the back of their head. Your eyes met and Kaoru's first action was to pound on the now locked door.
"What the hell is this? Let me out!" You let out shaky laugh, which made him stop.
"It's been awhile, Kaoru... How have you been? It been around a month by now. A month of you not saying a word to me. I get it. If you don't want to be around me anymore, that's your choice. I just want to know what I did wrong." His hand slid down the door as he slowly turned to face you. Guilt filled his face as he saw your glazed eyes and the sad smile that covered your face.
"You've got it wrong... I... You... You've done nothing wrong... I just..." He trailed off, his head hanging down.
"You just what?! Is this a stupid game? You are the closest friend I've ever had and then you feel like it's okay to just stop talking to me and leave me alone!" You started to raise your voice.
"Alone my arse. What about Mori and Honey?! You spend enough time with them!" He spat back.
"I'm only friends with them because of you. If you'd never asked me to come back to the host club after you found these goddamn scars then I'd never of had the damn guts to talk to them. And I'm only spend time with them when you're occupied because I always prefer your presence because you made me so happy but now you just frustrate me!"
"I frustrate you! Then imagine how frustrated you make me when I have to spend so much time with you when I DON'T WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND!" Your breath hitched in your mouth as you took a step back. Your voice had all but disappeared as you murmured through the door.
"Open the door, Hikaru." You heard a click as you pushed the door open and ran as far away from Kaoru as you could.


Hikaru's POV

"Y/N, wait! That came out wrong!" I caught Kaoru by the collar before he could run after Y/N. My fist made contact with his face sending him to the floor.
"What kind of idiot says that to the girl he likes?! Do you know how much you mean to her? You never even noticed how she was before she ran into the Host Club. She had no friends, she is bullied, the stupid standards her parents hold to her are so high that she has anxiety over everything she does. And you think that it's okay to vent your frustration over liking her too much on her after ignoring her for so long?! You gave her hope and you've yanked it from under her. Honey and Mori spend so much time with her because otherwise she spends every second trying to think about how you avoiding her is her fault because she doesn't know any better!" I stood over Kaoru, fuming.
"Go find her, and tell her everything right now! Otherwise you'll regret it!" Kaoru scrambled to his feet and raced down the corridor.
