Nash ,

My fingers knotted into my hair as visions of my beat up sister being thrown onto the streets flashed through my mind. I have not eaten since they took her, and my mind has been like a broken record on repeat, always thinking the worst things possible.

Hayes has been sitting at the table since Chad left, he hasn't said a word. Not even the expected middle-school talk that he had said when Ashe beat up Chad, he just... Stayed silent.

"Are you okay?" I asked him, deciding that if I sat here and did the same thing he was doing this would be a never ending cycle.

Hayes looked up at me, then back to the wooden table, and back to me. He opened his mouth, and let out a breath. "I honestly have no idea what I feel right now."

"Same. I can't believe this all happened in the time span of like a day."

"Is Matthew coming?" Hayes asked quietly, fumbling with his fingers.

"Of course he is, even though he left her you and I both know he loves her more than life itself," I smiled, recalling the old memories of getting mad at Matthew for the littlest things. I miss those days, just my bestfriend and I with no care in the world. But, at the same time, I'm so glad Christina was introduced to my family, without her my bestfriend would probably be getting wasted in the middle of a walmart parking lot like old times.

I don't think Ashe ever found out about that side of him — The past version of him. Now he's like a 2.0, but before he was fucked up. And when I say fucked up, I mean really fucked up. A new girl every week to deliver pleasured temptations and he became a temporary alcoholic. Of course now he isn't because well, crack kills.

"I'm still kinda bummed that she did it." Hayes mumbled, tapping his foot on the tile floor.

"I know, I was too — But in the end it's her body and imagine if she would still be carrying a child? She could've had a miscarriage either way with all the stress with Matthew and the bullshit that is happening with these two men. God, I pray that she's alright," Tears began to well up in my eyes for the third time today, except this time I just let them fall. Tear after tear fell onto my lap, leaving soaked tear stains on my pants.

"That's true. She'll have kids in the future though, right?"

I let out a soft chuckle. "Of course she will Hayes, she's not going to leave us without the title of being the best tios' in the world."

"Okay good. And just so you know, I would so be a better tio than you." Hayes smirked in victory.

"Shut your bitch ass up and go take a shower, you stank!" I joked, letting out a laugh as I exaggerated and held my nose.

Hayes rolled his eyes. "Make sure to update me if anything happens. And lock the door."

I nodded, not wanting to say anything in fear of bursting out into tears again. My emotions were all over the place since the men have taken her but deep in the back of my mind I know everything will be alright.

My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door and I got up from the chair, slowly walking over to it. I looked through the peep hole and furrowed my eyebrows once I saw a lady. I slowly unlocked the door and opened it, looking at her cautiously.

"I don't want to refinance anything or buy anything you sell." I told her curtly.

"Excuse me? I'm not a saleswoman. I'm here to look for Christina."

I mentally face-palmed, she must think I'm an arrogant dick. "Sorry about that. I'm just so used to random people coming to my front door step and trying to sell me stuff like hair dryers. Like no bro, I don't want to buy your super absorbent tampons!" I chuckled.

She just stared at me. I let out an awkward cough but focused on her main question.

"Uh, about Christina.. She's passed away."

The lady put a hand over her heart and it's as if she's heard the most depressing news possible. I didn't know what to do in this situation, comfort a random person while she's crying but deep down I want to cry too or just slam the door in her face.

"Who's at the door?" Hayes voice was heard a couple of feet away from me, I looked at him and merely shrugged.

"Sorry, you must think I'm a total weirdo. My name is Gina, Gina Dallas. I knew Christina way back in high-school and I barely found out that she was back in town but I guess I'm.. Too late." The woman apologized, looking down at her feet.

"Oh yeah, I think I've heard stories about you when I eavesdropped on her old conversations with my sister Ashe. You're the only real one that stuck with her but lost contact when you had the baby, right?" I asked, smiling as I realized a living memory of Christina was standing right in front of me.

"Yup, that's me. I had a healthy baby boy who isn't much of a baby now," Gina chuckled, trying to lighten the mood.

"Yeah? Does he play football or any sport?" I asked, wondering if I could make a friend. I know it wasn't the best time to, but if I made friends with her son maybe she would come around more and once we got Ashe back she would be thrilled to see a memory of her mom's is alive.

"He dabbles in a few things here and there, he really likes to make people smile. I'll tel you what, here's my number and just give me a call if you'd like to meet him because I'd love to get to know a son of Christina's a lot more." Gina smiled warmly at me, I nodded.

She wrote her number down on a piece of paper that she pulled out of her purse and a pen, she handed it to me and smiled gently.

"Have a nice day son, and I am so sorry for your lost." She patted my shoulder and walked away, back into her royal blue Lexus.

"Thanks." I whispered, knowing no one could hear me. I turned back around and saw Hayes in the same position sitting at the table.

"Let's eat some dinner and talk!"
